Ok been a while just had some personal shit to sort out.

UPDATE:

As many of you are aware the forums are running the latest software but the actual main site is gone. There is a video site which is currently disjoint from the forums. The gallerys have sunk beneath the surface and the association site now has its own site and own forums. So in essence quite a lot has gone on since late last year.

To put it bluntly we now have a pile of parts(some prototyped and some OEM) and with those parts I'm going to start assembling the final ore site (this new final assembled ore should last till gas is so expensive we can't afford 4wds anymore)

This is the list of what I have to do:

1) Put up new shell (4wdtv site is a version behind the one we are going to use) and transfer memberships.
2) Dig out our 20 odd gig of photo albums, record ownership, upgrade to new version(which wipes ownerships) install into new shell, reassign ownership(not an easy job).
3) Plug forums into shell.
4) Theme shell so its presentable and goes with what we know ore to be.
5) Start making the shell useful ie. Topic areas, video areas, project build areas, gallery area etc
6) address ongoing feedback and concerns from members etc.

I want to get to number 5 with in a month. (remember this will all be done late at night, I still plan on building stuff in the garage and 4wding on the weekends)

Keep an eye out for changes, and if something breaks remember to tell me or mark asap as I'm not always on the site.

Just upgraded the front of the site to the latest version. not live yet as im going for a swim.

I have some new areas for people to add things to. More like the new trend - blogging.

But these are tailored to truck builds and trip reports.

Will try and have them online tonight.

Forums are still accessible in the mean time.

cheers

The new front page looks great ... I like the way the videos now show as a list
You had the who's on line on the right and then moved it ... I liked it on the right

Are you planing to add a home button to the left of "board index" ?

yup, the forums bit will change soon to tie back into the site (including links and banner and colours). the front page should hopefully become more interactive over the next couple of days as well. I moved the who's online as that side bar was blowing out for some reason.

I'm liking it Mike,

Has anybody mentioned anything about subscription to cover costs? Even if its a drive to get some more newer members paying or a donation box??

well time to call it a night. done 6 hours solid on the site tonight which is prob about 4 times more than i achieved at work today  May not look like much but I've got a system in place for calling all sorts of forum post results from the front page now. Went to put the home page button on the forums but turns out the makers of the forum software were hacked through their mail notification software and the site was taken down grrrrrr.

Ok got the Project builds up on the front page. You can access them via project builds menu and you can create a build page using the create content link on the left.

I have a test page up at the moment.

Tip, when browsing for the photos make sure you click the "upload" for each photo before saving the page.

I'll put my build threads up soon I think. Mine seem to have got lost in dribble.

Cheers

Sorry about all the chatroom kick outs tonight. I got it all back and going after removing the censor and flood limit stuff. Somehow managed to get it a little out of whack and the front whos chatting block would not work anymore.

Anyway its all up and running again. Try to get the general chat to the pub and those that are starting to to talk tech stuff head into the shed chat room.

I could create a toyota and nissan specific chatroom or a rock one if needed. Just yell if thats the case.

THAT WAS FUNNY LAST NIGHT TESTING THE (oops caps) system for which swear words it knew

anywho, Mike, is there an easy way to add to the "builds" or have to do it all over again? or just leave it where it is

you can replicate the whole thing or just do what i did and do a brief one. Go into your build thread and get all the photos you want, then have your build thread open in one window and then just copy the text over to the last. Then just put a link to the full build thread. Took me ages to find mine the project forums. this way it should stop it getting lost as they will be tied to your name. Soon when someone looks at one by you or visits your profile they will see all build posts etc. Make sure you use full size photos so when you click on the photos they popup bigger!
