tut tut tut. How about I come up and put you boys through that course as I offer the same free courses for industry down here

At least if I take the courses I already know your current ability and recognise the prior experience leading to a more enjoyable day by all
Mike
Sweet. I didn't realise that you would be able to come up this far to run one. I'm not sure that everyone will trust you enough to teach them how to drive... some of them have seen you doing crazy stuff in your Surf
I'll leave it in your capable hands to arrange enrolment and stuff like that. Hopefully we can keep the weekend the same. Let us know asap if not.

I don't think it was a lack of skill there, its the fact that surfs get stuck really easy, or there was a malfunction or miscommunication between driver and steed

Just thinking....(asking for trouble really)
Do we qualify for a student loan and allowance whilst attending this course?
I could put this money to necessary safety improvements on the Land Rover (thinking of indicator lenses and the like)

Um well as the course is free I would imagine not
And 2's the only reason you got past that bit is you drove through the bush and missed the hard bit which I attempted

Is the NZQA certificate still going to be held at the training day? I'm keen on attending if it is.

Mike and I are finalising this at the moment. We are still aiming to run it the same weekend, but we may need to do the NZQA bit separately. Mike is working out how the schedule will look and will be back to us soon with details and booking details.

Sorry long I must have missed your question. It's not going to matter what vehicle you use for this, in fact if you are on AT's then you will probably gain more out of it because you will experience more of the things you are being taught
We'll be back to you soon about how the NZQA part is going to work.

Does the NZQA part require getting registered as a student or something

what about those of us not yet fortunate to have a 4wd yet (yes i know i'm letting the side down with this but at least i've narrowed it down to 4 makes) can we just do the theory and then do another training day later like next year?

I would strongly recommend taking the Jeep off! , and the landrover, and maybe the toyota!

Sorry guys and gals, slightly off-topic but this is important....
Mate, mate, mate.....
Have you lost your nuts? Ditching the only two original 4wd manufacturers in existence? All the rest are just cheap copies. Jeep was the very first, followed very closely by Land Rover. Then some Jap saw these and thought "####, brilliant idea, we can make those too" So they make them in their millions. And they have too because the flippin' things keep rusting away. How many Jap 4x4's from te '50's, 60's, 70's, heck even the '80's are still on the road today? There is the odd FJ40 Cruiser which dates back to somewhere in the eighties, but over half of those are held together with bog, No.8 fencing wire and zip ties and have plywood doors because the originals fell of their rusted hinges some 20 years ago.
Compare that to 70% of all Land Rover ever made are still mobile and in use. And the vast majority of Willys Jeeps which survived the 2nd World War and subsequently being bulldozed into a hole in the ground by the Yanks, are still going strong too.
So here we are in a market flooded by late-ish model, smelly Jap import diesel 4x4's. A very large proportion of Jap 4x4's on here have been lifted, fitted with larger tyres, diff lockers, winches, you name it, if it is an aid to try and make them perform better off-road, they seem to get them fitted. Why is that?
Is it done to keep up with or only just out-perform old school Land Rovers and Jeeps
OK, enough stirring the shit from this corner

i'm not that mechanically minded to be able to own a rover...lol and i've heard that jeeps have a rather expensive design flaw...lol apparently their wheel bearings are mounted directly on the axle and not on a sleeve and when they wear its expensive to replace them (well thats the info i've been given anyway.)
