replacing engine fan for electric one

What are you guys using for temperature switches?

I was using something I got from a japanese car wrecker, it's just two leads (make contact when temp reached) and it screwed straight into my thermostat housing (I know it's not the best place, but it was soo easy).

Anway after 3 years it's stopped working. Time to do it properly, before the fans would switch on once the engine was up to temp and not stop until the thermostat closed.

I drove the haast pass yesterday without the fans working and no overheating, so it's not too big a deal.
I have manual AC fans I can still switch on when needed.

anyone pls help me with overheating problem of td27.when engine starts to overheat,the raddiator remains pretty cool.this prompts me to pull down radiator to be fix,but didnt find any clogging inside.next i check water pump but it appears to be ok also.pls help thnks

if the rad is cold and motor hot then you should be checking your thermostat.

Instead of dragging up an old thread sometimes its better to staart your own

i converted my surf to electric fans with a 16inch unit from a1 radiators with a alloy radiator. i used a davies & craig adjustable thermoswitch available from bnt that slips into the top radiator hose and then wired in a 3 position switch so it was thermo switch down off middle and full time in the up position.it worked really well and the fan was really shallow but moved alot of air.

it was an aftermarket one from a1 radiators.it was going to work out the same as buying one from a wreckers but it was way shallower.it also had curved fins instead of straight.it helped the 2lte last even when doing burnouts

damnit, I hadn't felt the need for elec fans and now after reading this 5 year old thread I want them.
