If you want to take out the Moderfied class then you'll have to keep the water out of the mighty landy.

I solved that problem by selling mine and buying a Toyota. 8)

We need some good quality women to keep us fed this year I reckon. What about trying the Tui girls?

Mike, How long do you reckon until the new stickers will be available?

THE ACTUAL DATE IS SEPTEMBER 23RD :!:

Last year by the time the day arrived there were no gate entries left so it would pay to get in early. It would be nice to see a few more ORE trucks in for this year.

Bill, What are the odds of haveing the new stickers etc done to show off on the day?????

Sounds like a good plan, well enter the BIG HIPPO for a laugh
Just need to get/borrow some angry tyres :)
The MT's not up to that type of terrain

So what are the costs involved?... if I want to enter my truck, what class should I be looking to enter into? just what classes are there?

Never done anything like this so am really green with the whole subject  but it sounds like a hell of a lot of phun!! and would be quite keen

And if I feel that I would be shamed entering my truck, what about the spectator option?... does this cost as well? just how much?

Pardon my ignorance but I guess everyone's got to start somewhere

For those that are asking all the questions, ring the number in the thread heading. Going from last year it was $25 per truck, that included the winch bitch. Spectators had to pay. Only competitors could bring their vehicles into the competition area and pits. Two classes, 33" and under with one traction aid (read difflock or lsd), over 33" with more then one traction aid. And yes if you are on 33" with twin lockers or one locker and one lsd then you are in with us big boys. Still trying to decide whether to enter the safari into the bigboys or the terrano into the littleboys. Terrano is heaps faster and didn't too bad last year. Just have to get it all fired up, put the 33's back on and color her up in ORE colours.

Perhaps should have a pit and bbq separate for the Nizz and Yotas. That way the real mechanics will work on the real trucks and get fed the real tucker to get them through - and might prevent sabotage  - not giving any one ideas! 8)

Anybody want to listen to a bit of advice,------- If the vehicle you are going to enter is your family vehicle or the one you are relying on to go to work on Monday morning, or you are new to offroading :!: Don't enter. Come along and watch or even volunteer to marshal, watch and learn, who is going to listen to me anyway  .

I hear the entry fee is going to be up on last year and there will be no on the day entries.

ORE , like other years I urge all members to get behind this event as at this stage it looks like the only event in Canterbury this year.

ENJOY,

FITZY.

Prices are the same as last year. $25 per vehicle and $5 per person at the gate.
Agrred tho Fitzy, any newbies should watch one of these events before trying them out 1st hand, but also who would listen to me?

Sound advice - My first hardcore sunday-trip with the rock-crawling fraternity saw me driving to work monday morning with a rough-running engine, wet seats, a crumpled bonnet and a dinged front axle housing that was pretty close to the crown-wheel... and that was just a small drive up the river... I was lucky I could take it to work at all...

The Mud plug last year saw several roll-overs (me nearly included), and a lot of breakages (me definitely included in that one - the first breakage for me was the 1500kg tie down that was holding my sub box down in the rear snapped as I dropped off a bank on the second hole and damn-near belted Rik in the back of the head - which would have been serious if it hadn't hit the seat instead. I also had a front driveshaft failure and nearly soiled my pants on that near-rollover :P All this in a very modified truck - Your average Surf or Terrano would probably sustain panel damage at the least.

Also remember you have no insurance while driving in the event unless your insurance company specifically says you do (which I doubt they will).

But, there are plenty of people who will want a co-pilot, and someone needs to cook enough sausages to keep Pete happy and Marshals will also be in short supply I would think...

Come along, cheer the ORE boys, cook, clean, pit-crew or co-pilot... learn and get some ideas and start building your truck towards next year.

Rik, I hope you're listening to this, you have a wee way to go before your truck (or yourself) will be able to compete at this level

Also, the entry form states that this a mud plug for modified vehicles and the event is not designed for family class vehicles and the suitability of vehicles will be at th organizer's discretion. Not trying to put a dampener on peoples willingness to enter just know that there are big risks to your vehicle and possibly you if things go wrong.

This is a bit off topic   , After looking at Mike's last posting it came to my attention   , that if me could find out what sort of material was used in his friends BIKINI TOP and develop it into a TOW STROP( I won't call it a SNATCH strop  ) ,

IT WOULD NEVER BREAK,

FITZY.
