had a busy weekend ,went to the races at awapuni for a work trip on a
bus,cracked first beer at 9 am had vodka jellys at 1030 ,was well trollied
at races ,dont know if i won anything ,cant remember.got up sunday
(coffee and panadole ) then into garage to try and get wagon ready for
rallywoods/akkas ,modified panhard rod to clear pto driveshaft,
finished shortening up computer loom and wiring trying to find a miss
put new plugs in and took for a drive ,got 50 mtrs then it stopped
f**ken pos bleep bleep bleep .after a calming coffee kept tracing stuff . finally found
that hei cap was f**ked ,managed to get my spare back off my mate
who borrowed it to check his phantom miss (5 years ago).swapped out
cap and rotor and yeeee haaaa back to being a rocketship ,i,m sure the
neighbours are a bit pissed off by now ,as i,ve been skidding up and
down the street showing off my sweet running chevy .bring on next
weekend. i,ll be there jerry

I finally got the rear disc conversion on my Surf completed, (Yay) made up some brackets for the handbrake cable, stole some shorter flexi brake lines out of a Mitsi at the wreckers, made up some mounts for the flexi line.
I'll put up pics in a build thread later.
Well pleased with how it all looks now, just got to get the discs machined now and its all go on the rear.
Now to finish off the front IFS hub swap.

I have also managed to track down a 7M Mid bowl sump for the cross over steering conversion.

Just another weekend in the shed workin on ma 4x4's

replacement clutch cable for lil pig as well as new chassis for something else and of course outline for da mo I'd like too thank Merv Hughes for the inspiration

Did you use one of those pre-cut ones from Trademe or did the cutting yourself? I am assuming its the rear glass that gave you the most grief as it has a bit of a curve.

I did use the ones from Trademe. rear side windows were a breeze, rear windscreen was ok, just big, but we got there, drivers window needed a bit of a trim, but again, we got there, but the passengers window.... .... what a shamozle, it just wouldnt behave, ended up getting it on, but theres a couple of ugly crease marks in it... took ages to get it to sit properly esp on the edges......

so anyway, all of the above turned out to be a little bit wrong

I went down to Wanganui to do the stewards job for a mate, but when I got there, the host club had found someone else without even telling my mate
So I had to walk around for the first time in years and watch............

until lunchtime, when another mate came and asked me to co-drive with him coz he had broken his co-driver in the morning.
so I got muddy and wet in the afternoon and loved it and then drove home in the evening.

why is it that you always get really tired when you are only 30 mins from home

I'm suprised they recognised you Skid with all that hairy stuff shaved off

Exactly, I am thinking at 70/80 bucks, I can waste an afternoon and put it on myself. If I stuff up completely, I guess then we will be back to square one. So do you recommend them???

Also, what shading have you gone with? 35 front and 20 rear?

I was walking around and would start talking to people I know and they were looking at me funny thinking 'who the fuk is this character'

it was easier in the afternoon, coz I was wearing my helmet and it has SKID written on it.

other people were too scared to join in a conversation I would be having with someone coz they didn't recognise who their friend was talking to.

and when they realised I bet they pissed themselves laughing

if you get some warm water and diswashing liquid on the window you can move the tint around a little more but it does take overnight and a day in the sun to stick.

I had to do stickers a lot on the car depending what and where I was.

went down the selwyn friday nite, went 2 swap diffs around and found the frnt diff poked so called it quits there, got another diff sunday, threw it in the rear, now to put the rear up front.

I bought a kit to do my cruiser. The kit was good, came with all the gear to do teh job except for a squirty bottle. The shapes for the windows are pretty well right, i had to trim a little off the rear windows. You just gotta be carefull and keep your work area really clean and out of the wind so it doesn't pick up the dog fluff and blow it onto the sticky side of the film

Noticed some ugly rust/grease coloured water coming out of my front left hub. Pulled it apart to find it destroyed internally and has been for sometime. Pulled the spares box out and fixed it all. Made me realise why I couldn't get out of some of the shit I got myself into at lake Daniels last weekend, only had three wheeldrive . Also tested my batteries as they don't seem to be holding charge, seems I may have cooked them last weekend winching out of what I couldn't drive .

Yes i would recommend them.

35% on all 5 windows.

Dont be shy with the soapy water spray bottle..... give it heaps, both on the film and the target window.

well got creative in the weekend and did this to the truck,


not to bad just have to weld rear back on and all done

Wifes car has 35% all round. Youi really need to look to see in espcially in bright sun.

I got 5% all round but with 35% on the front windows. He can do 5% on request

also use a high power hair dryer or heatgun on LOW setting to soften the tint film around fiddly bits, also helps dry/evaporate the aforementioned soapy water.. i also mix in a bit of meths, helps dry it faster and clearer. DONT use cheap tint, its a prick to work with, discolours with heat application and goes clear after 2 years....... ( i done a bit of tinting in my boy racer days lol)

I was going with http://www.mobistint.co.nz/

Its the same guy who sells them on trademe, where XJ got his from. These would be pre-cut, so easier and quicker to install. I have no way of knowing whether they are cheap tints or quality tints, only time will tell.

How different??

Well, put it this way, 5% you can't see anything through, even with your nose pressed up against the window, the 25% you can see through from about 1ft away, BUT, buggered if i would want anything darker on the front windows, i see why its the legal limit!!!!!!

The down side of the 5% is reversing in the dark, even with 100w high level reverse you still can't see shit, you gotta use the mirrors!!!!!!
