For $25 the rancho distri adjusted my shocks, which means they're covered under warranty...

Yep, the VX lives in the Tron, quite often seen posing outside Starbucks on Ward Land

Will have to grab a pic next time i have the muddies on

Well, seeing as i was measuring the distance between shock mounts so i could start to track down some longer replacements, i naturally had no shocks connected and no swaybars connected so i could get maximum articulation in order to correctly size my new shocks. You can still see the shocks in the pic's, but they are disconnected at the diff.

I have never tried the radius arm bolt trick, always ment to on the safari, but never got round to it. Seeing as this is a soft roader poser truck, i don't think i will ever bother.

Besides, articulation is over rated if you have lockers :D

also could you take some pic of you rear bar from under neath as that is just wot im looking for.

Due to the front diff beening repaired at the mo im looking at differant bars for the vx.

Hey man, i didn't notice this post previously

Its not so much a rear bar, its just two replacement bumper end-caps. You pull the plastic bumper ends off, and bolt these on in place. You can see it more clearly in the recent pic's i have put up.

As for where i got them from, well, i went to pick up adjustable panhard rods from some guy off TM, and i was talking to him about my intentions with the truck and the list of things on my to do list, and he mentioned he had some ugly bumper ends sitting in his shed. I said that ugly was good, and they followed me home

I can't decide if they are an off the shelf item, or if someone has had them made. They aren't what you would expect from your avaerage DIY effort in the garage at home, theres alot of folding, and not a visible weld in sight. They guy thought they may be an ARB product, but i think the are a tad ugly to have the ARB lable attached

So i can increase the lash in my drive line but with the added benefit of an increase in traction from the rear axle

Fiiiiiiiiiinally got my winch mounted and wired up and working. Couldn't find a factory 80series winch mounting plate any where so had to build something. It works, buts needs improving some more. Go the 10,000lb Chinese Runva

Doesn't look like i have lost any flex even though the shocks are fractionally shorter than i needed. I don't even need to extend the bump stops either. Saying that though, i haven't flexed it on the muddies with the new shocks. Its possible the tyres may rub on the inner gaurd or flares, so they may need extending yet.

Couple more flex pic's.........

Have removed the front radius arm drop box's in favour of offset bushes. Since doing that i have had to trim some of the inside of the flares off in the front due to increased front flex:

Definatly doesn't handle like a car

Its all in the shocks, i have the rears set as hard as they can go (equivalent to a big bore gas charged shock) and the front set softer. The hard rear end takes the roll out mostly. These are a big rolly truck to start with, and even after all my dodgy suspension butchery it handles better than stock.

Basically the bigger more heavy duty shock you use, the less roll you get but the harsher the ride.

Spring rates are another factor aswell. Basically hard springs mean less roll but rougher ride and less even weight distribution between the wheels during articulation.

Soft springs leed to more roll, but a more even weight distribution between wheels on the same axle during articulation. Roll can be combatted by shock settings/type.

Your safari would have a rear swaybar disconnect thingy in it, so you won't need to worry about roll to much ;)

My safari handles like a sherman tank, did bodylift thing at weekend and already had suspension lifted.
was going to just run my old blunt 33,s of zuk and get some new ones for that, but could really stand 35,s.
(point was to use up my old 33,s from zuk, not buy more tyres)

i live up a faily windy road, and it gets messy in the tight windy stuff :o

i got to admit, having the lj80 as well, i wonder if i ever get around to doing much offroad stuff in it
its just so fawkin big and heavy, and we all know i,m not the best at missing stuff..................
idea was to take the kids on shiny trips, least thats what i tell the missus

your seemed to be pulling pretty well when u past us on the way up north, can,t remeber seeing you back off in any of cnrs, but must say pretty fawkin impressed by that articulation.

wondered why guy don,t use more airbag setups, mates pro stock car can jump a couple feet off the ground with a flick of the switch, could be real handy for getting out of bogs.
big height for main street posing and offroading , low for sidlings and highway?????

gyuess the fiddy will be getting its big axles soon?

I'd rather see the fine lookin holden than the 80 series, but i guess this is a 4x4 thread. :P
And hey, are you a pom or something? In the UK they call them vauxhal. But we aren't in the UK.
