Put a rubber layer under a metal bracket instead of a rubber bracket only.

Would that be your big hand sealing off the top of my snorkel Bob?

It would indeed, thus indicating my jealousy.
mind you, it could be my equally big bum, shitting down the tube, especially if you have done something spectacularly clever that I can't do!!!
Cheap enema if you try that on a diesel.
Pretty sure I read somewhere on here they don't cut out when you do that trick. Could be wrong though. Not keen to test it haha.
Heheh, well, my little

mistake

oftrying that hand trick on the safari proved that you can stall a diesel by starving it from air (no surprise really) but that it also causes a whole lot of damage
O put my hand over the top of the snorkle, and the engine stopped. In the process it sucked in all of the plastic air ducting on the intake system causing it to implode. What a farkin mess. Be carefull if you have any kind of ducting between the snorkle and the air box

In the old days of the Detroit Diesel Two strokes, the early 53 and 71 series had the unfortunate (occasional)habit of jamming the throttle wide open which had an equally unfortunate side effect of causing the engine stop to cease functioning.
To overcome this they came fittted with an "Emergency Stop" which worked using the simple expedient of letting a flap close the intake side of the Supercharger. Invariably this meant replacing all the seals in the Blower! If you were lucky the gaskets right down to the manifold survived, if not....?
However it did stop them! Although you would have sworn that all the internals were self destructing given the horridable noises they made as they died.

i asked the guy on trademe that sell the airflow snorkels for about $350 if he could get the safari ones, and he said yes, but he didnt stock them because they are a lot more expensive and theres not much margin in it for him. said a safari one would be in excess of $500
