gomulletgo wrote:I may be a little off track with this nibs, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't beadlocks the go if you have plenty of power and run the risk of throwing the truck hard into banks etc? wouldn't you have to be driving like a mad man to pop a tyre off the rim with the existing engine? Another thing, I think you originally said you didn't want to go for a bigger engine (V8 maybe  ) because of cost, yet you seem to be throwing plenty of money into other things :?

ok dude. yes you're off track, yes you are wrong, no they're not just for high powered trucks, no you wouldnt have to be driving like a madman..

beadllocks? refer doddzee's post..

fella, read back a bit more closely and you'll notice i focus my response to v8's around the amount of river and water work i do and the diesels relative imperviousness to water. sure, i'd love a v8, but when i have 2 3b's and the possibilty to turbo one, why bother for now? its a mod i can do later if need be. yep, i've been spending money, but i'll tell ya what, i'll go buy the v8 and assorted kit needed to put it in the 40 and forego things like the tyres and rims, ring and pinions to bring the ratios back into line, beadlocks cos tyres on rims are over rated, hi steer snr bits cos i like bent tie rods and chuck a v8 in it....

the bits i've recently bought i can use with the current engine.

*rant over*

It's okay Wop. Just a big green monster that is all bitter and twisted because of his pathetically underpowered coozer.

The problem with a 4 cylinder................anything really, is that it is just 1/2 size. (ie 4 cylinders short       )

Go on ya bastards, fight that one out!

Shit you are a big brave man H20  stupid, but brave    .

Take a heads up here 86-surf, when you can prove you are any good anything other than post whoring, you may gain some respect, until then i suggest you keep bit more low key. (just a suggestion, take it any way you want) :) :).

Just as well it's nibbys thread, and it is as long as his build, or we would be thread jacking eh?????

Re: bj40 build...

Post by niblik »

okay.... slight rethink to original plan... sorta.....

here goes a light run down...

coils all round with the 3b mated to a lux 5 speed and a twin transfer set up using trail gears adaptor and 4.7 low gears, use rusty's tub on dayglo's chassis, 60 series diffs running 5.29 ratios with the twin arb's or an auto and arb combo, 60's power steering, 6 point rollcage, tube front guards, the 37 wranglers with internal air beadlocks on the new rims running the longs and hub gears, prob chuck on seats from the rover or dayglo too...

this way i'll have a trailer/a-frame toy now and later can take time to do the other up as a std road goin 40.. using the 4 litre turbo diesel as the tow donkey..

rustys tub 'amputated' from dodge chassis..
Image

original spring hangers used for lower control arms...
Image

4 link completed, nearly..
Image

ditto....
Image

sorry for photos, due to recent goings ons, dont have a camera.. so phone will do..

much thanks and props to everyone that has done the dealings to the truck.. awesome.. really, thanks to all those who have flicked in parts, knowledge, time towards this thing so far, it really is appreciated a great deal..
