Whats wrong with a diesel. HP aint what you need its torque and diesels have heaps
I have proved most of this by driving circles around v8's in me 33hp suzuki (but lacks torque)
I also have a v8 with shhh loads of torque (2900 nm @ 2000 rpm) have never got the gas peddel to the floor yet, but at $1 a k give me diesle.
Seriously some body please give me a diesel

Dare I say it, but I'm going to attempt to bring some theory into this thread as two cheerleaders might be able to help me.

How do the triple block simexs perform compared to the twin blocks?

I've read/heard that the triple blocks don't clear as well as the twin blocks but they have an advantage being 36ish"

they clear just as well as the side lugs are exactly the same, they dont dig as fast tho due to the bigger gap (tripple lugs) between them being 12.5"wide instead of the 11.5" of the 35's so give the impression they dont work as well, and to be fair they probably dont in certian terrains.

ive had my 36's for 4 1/2 years now and have abused them on and off road, for me, they are perfect for what i do

Clearing schmearing!, I dont clear mine well, and Iroks are about as open as ya'll get, I'd go for clearance evreytime  I followed Steve's Patrol winch truck through Waitapheta all day, and I saw a shiny smooth groove between the ruts all day as well, the ole polished clay diffhead skidmark, his beast would go many more places with some clearance. But thats just my 2c

My truck didnt go very well in those vidios as it had 2 brocken shocks (my excuse anyway) . It usually goes fine on 36"s (triple blocks). Never had 35"s so I can compare them.
36" Simex's is as close as I get to gardening

I run the ET 35x11.5 double block and go out with people with the 36 triple blocks and when we have measured one beside the other we found that 36s are no higher than the 35s.
The pro for the 35x11.5 is they clear better
The pro for the 36x12.5 is they dont drop down as deep into ruts because of there extra width.
Both have their advantages in different terrain.

Jafa's main advantage is the clearance from the 40s and low pressure. That is why tractors work.

i dunno it Steve run's the simex's or the silverstones
but there is a massive differeance from a mt112 35" and a simex 36" tire

you can see it between bens truck and petes truck .. but them ben runs 40 psi everywhere :D and pete runs like 9
but in saying that the 35" bfg's im running now are smaller than bens 36"'s as well

Ive heard many stories that they dont work as well with the tripple blocks but from watching them in action on a hilux ,cruiser and a safari at places like the Extreme park,Pete's place in Rotorua and the last Super winch tough truck challenge they certainly seem to do the job well .the only reason i havent bought a set for my truck yet is im hopeing the rules will change in the near future as theres some 37,s i want to run.

You are doing the right thing going to 37s because safaris and cruisers with their 9inch diffs need that size to equal a hilux on 35s and not be disadvantaged with clearance
One of the big diadvantages with running bigger tyres is the loss of lock unless a person widens the diffs

I have seen the 35 + 36 ET's in a local 4wd shop on rims,so I put them togeather, the 36 was noticeabley bigger.(I think it depends which batch of tyres you get as warren from 4wdbits has said)I'd be happy to own either.

Haveing good diff clearance is a huge advange, esp on well used tracks(no skill required though,in some cases)I remember going DOWN worsley spur in the early days on 33's and had to be towed 3 times by the same vehicle as me with 35's,he didnt even hit the ground let alone get stuck.no amount of driver ability would have changed that on the day.

same diff clearance as 42" tyres with 35's. 8)
Approx 370mm at diff with 35" BFG's on a Safari(road pressures)

Now I'm a big fan of clearance, but  $17500 AUD is a lot of cash to gain 20mm clearance! I get 350mm under my shaved Hilux diff on 40"s for heeeeeps less than that
No doubt they are fawkin cool tho

Looked at Marks site and they said you got just over 4" (think it was 101mm???). Add width to. Was cheaper than that. Only $16,000 :D

Interesting that they have been around since the 40's but not really utilized. Guess its the speed/heat thing with the hubs? They are on those buses that lower themselves for wheel chairs (even though they are the other way around). Might have to see if they could be turned upside down and have a word to redbus!
