pic taken on iPhone 4S, chuck into Photoshop CS5 and apply HDR toning with "heavy contrast" preset.

here is the rather tame look original.

Hey, sold that a long time ago.

Yes it was turbo. It had a Turbo Dynamics Kit fitted by the previous owner. It was also converted to Manual by the previous owner aswell.

It went really well but the body needed a some TLC.

I have no idea where is it now though.

Yes I definately think the manual was better on and off road. My auto one (non turbo) struggled on soft sand and felt gutless. But each to their own as some will prefer auto's.

They've really ruined these trucks.. Independant suspension, what a waste. Now only good for tarmac, gravel roads and transporting groceries with the whole family in comfort.

Think Toyota has kept the "real" truck going with the Toyota Landcruiser 70 Series.

unless they work like the Range Rovers do by the computer locking up a wheel to send power to the other.. they can 3 wheel everywhere and its not really an issue. Our RR Sport has more clearance underneath the drivetrain than the Safari diff head on 33"s.

You lose alot of clearance in an independant, as soon as a wheel drops down or goes up you've lost your clearance. Solid axle is always going to have a consistant clearance because they don't have your centers going up and down.

I really was put off trucks with independants when I did a Mt. Greenland trip, there's a good clay climb and rock climb that will show you why independant suspension is crap. - When I did this trip every single truck with independant suspension on the front failed to climb these (even the ones with lockers), and every truck with solid axles had no issues. It's about a grade 4 trip.

Guess it depends what you use your truck for, but you're limited by the capabilities for a number of tracks/scencery in certain parts of NZ.

Good point - all down to terrain. Though I bet if you give it another 5-10 years you'll struggle to find any new factory truck with SFA/SRA.

Yeah your right. I think Toyota has a good thing going with Africa, so I think we will continue to see 70 series cruisers coming out of their factories with solid axles front and rear. Once the demand wears off, they'll prolly drop the 70 series all together.

This is my first post and here is a photo of my d22 after a good wash, cut, and paint clean. Polish and wax next. It's sitting on -13 offset steels and 265/70/16 AT wranglers. Hope to have some 285's soon.
