Do you use the cobalt ones on low speed with plenty of cutting fluid.

a bit off topic but i find it makes a huge difference to clamp a bit of wood behind the steel to give the pilot bit of your holesaw something to "locate" in..
Nice work as usual Tom.

I just use the cheap Bahco holesaws with bugger all cutting fluid

I've got some that would have cut through at least 500mm of steel.
I cut into a wooden block too.
Anyway that concludes todays lesson.............

If your going to do alot of flaired holes, look at step drills... there are some that have a big enough step they will do 4mm thick.... bonus is you don't have to drop the speed on the drill press and you can hold your work by hand they also champher the edges of your hole
I made my dies to match the drill

the one I"ve got is odd ball and dosn't do 25mm
Nice work on the guard bar..... how'd you attach it down at the slidders
Cheers Reece

Well onto that one fella

Yes I agree they are awesome.

They are welded to the sliders and bolted to the front and rear bar.

tomsoffroad wrote:What are the rules re welding to a chassis, eg does it need cert if its for bullbar mounts?
To the best of my knowledge yes it does require cert. This truck already had an uncerted body lift so was destined to be certed anyway.

read up "http://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/virm-in-service-cert-wof-only/docs/gen-3-vehicle-structure-v4a4.pdf"
You'll find a class MC (4x4's) don't need cert if its manufactured before 1 oct 03 for welding chassis of likes of bullbars, external rollcages or similar

.
Of course if you getting cert, good idea to get it listed incase rules are changed at a later date.

PS- Terrano looks VERY nice. Just how I'd like mine looking, only with a winch hidden in bumper

Thanks. There is heaps of room in the bar to mount a winch. Just need to drill
some holes and chop a slit for the fairhead

I think thats the plan down the line.
