I was telling my partner about the changes going on with my truck this avo. She rolled her eyes  and said. "why didn't you just buy a late model swb landcruiser, ditch the body then throw on the 40 body you love so much? That way you'd have all the late features you're after on a old looking cruiser!?"

I must admit. She had me thinking.

The simple truth is Pete, there is no such thing as a late model SWB Landcruiser. They stopped back in the 90s and the only cruiser on the market today is the flatdeck.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 893538.htm

would make a great conversion i think, front and rear lockers,4.5ltr V8 TD great suspension, and a slightly longer wheelbase to make it a better tow wagon and more stable on the hill climbs...

i may be dreaming tho

Hey Pete, you ever thought about getting a thrash truck as well. It would have to a 40 of course but something you can actually get dirty, dent roll and have fun in as it appears your current 40 is turning more into a show car

Why?

They look a laugh untrimmed though don't they?
yeah they do look gay PR. :D

They are getting cut down to scale before mounting. But they will be removable, easily. :D

In the next couple of weeks me and a few other mates are going to fish Lake Brunner or Benmore. We're not sure which lake yet. But one thing's for sure. We will be doing a few k's over gravel roads. I'll be towing my boat. I just don't want it showered with stones. Even with a stone guard on the boat trailer won't stop stones n mud flying on/into the boat (the way I drive). So mud flaps had to happen.

Really looking forward to this fishing trip. :D :D :D :D

Most people would call it a, "show pony". I guess it's more of a, "tow pony" than anything for me. After all, that's what i brought it for. But Bubba, I do get it dirty from time to time and yes, I have rolled it. I just don't do that all the time, but that's not to say I don't ever get it working as a true 4WD.

I like your idea, making a bash around 40. Now you got me thinking here. Seriously.

I thought of that chopper. But I've had the boat on the back when it's been raining. If I spin the wheels up (which often happens) mud and crap ends up all over the boat. I mean above the hull. Crap goes everywhere. So instead of getting a guard made on the front of the trailer (which won't stop all the shit getting on the boat) i thought i'd nip things in the bud where it's all coming from. Hey it's not a permanent addition to the 40. It just goes on when i need it.

Don't be intimidated by the comments Pete. Its your thread and they don't have to read it but obviously do because they enjoy it.
As you know my old hilux is the opposite of yours with shit and dents all over it , but it dosen't bother me if you just want a nice truck to tow the boat.

When you took off from my place the V8 sounded really sweet. As Andi Delis says " image is everything "

Hey Pete, another idea for your flaps is to mount them on a solid bar, (the size they are now) and that bar fits to your tow bar, over the tow ball. real easy to get on and off, and covers in the almost the whole arse end of the truck. The Aussies have done it like this for years for towing caravans in the outback.
Just another idea anyway.

yeah, the aussies went away from guards mounted to the trailer as mentioned before as the stones can bounce back and smash ya back window,
ya need some naked chicks cut out of stainless for those bad boys though
