The calipers are painted. 8)

This is the new engine oil cooler, sandwich block and fittings ready to go in. I've brought 2 meters of braided hose to connect them. I'm hoping this is going to help keep things cooler.

Image

The cooler is going up here somewhere. :?

Image

Removed some steel. Ahh that's better.
The oil cooler will be mounted on a removable vented tray protecting it and making it easy to drop down and clean.

SWEET!! 8)

Yep I'll get some close up shoots tomorrow for you. No probs.
Hey hayny. If you want the mark1 adapter plates and spacers for this job let me know. I'm selling them. The mark one kit is being modified to the same specs as what i had the second set made to. Only the spacers are 10mm thick. I had new spacers made up same shape just thicker, 16mm thick to suit the caliper's dimensions.

The calipers on the rear of my 40 are off a Toyota MR2 Turbo.

Just looking at the stats on this thread.
This week it just went over 10,000 views and 500 replies. I guess that's not bad since it hasn't hit 12 months yet. 8)

But then most of the views and replies have been mine.

Hi Pete , thanks for the Disc Brake conversion topic , also for sharing the technical information that costs more time and money than the actual job. I might have to get my Cruiser out of the garage next year, clean all the Sheffield mud out of it and add a bit of BLING to the rear axles   . An  for your may be next Mod  you could add a Chute button ( like the Dragster guys use ) that will deploy your MUD FLAPS ( like a parachute ) this will up the braking efficiency by at least 40%,  .

MORE BRIGHT IDEAS,

FITZY.

Thanks Fitzy.
A ,"deploy mud flaps" button could be the go. I like the idea. But now I have brakes that are like new i hope not to need any more stopping power. :D I'm really enjoying these new brakes. The hand brake is still to be sorted.
I'm interested to see how they'll stop things on a hill with a load on the back. The last time I went to Akaroa with the truck fully loaded n towing the boat on the back, the brakes were fading a little by the time I got to the bottom of the hill.

The doc officers there are normally really good.
We like to get close to the dolphins, cos we swim with them. It's fun. :D

The original rotors before the new ones were off a later model cruiser. 70 series I think. It did have drums around before then. The new rotors on the front of the 40 now are Prado ones. Same as the rear.

The oil cooler was fitted today.

Looks like there's plenty of room to clean it (if it ever gets dirty).

I'll be putting some heat rap around the pipes exiting from the sandwich block. They are pretty close to the headers.

Funny you should mention that Jerry. Rick and PR were talking about it this avo after the oil cooler went in.

I think I'll be buying a can or carton of the stuff.
It would cover my number plate real well.

I recon if I jacked up the rear end and put the stuff on the tires then started the truck up,putting it into gear and throwing it around would look more realistic though.

The mud flaps are removable. Just 2 bolts each side, done in 2 minutes.
They only go on when I'm towing the boat. Otherwise they stay off.
