Well..its taken a while to get back on here........and to be frank.....after reading back through all of the negative comments..its reminds me why I don't bother........the last time I posted on here I had a legitimate question about turning off a engine mangement light on a hilux that I had...after I had disconnected the speedo.....the comments that I got then about how I shouldn't be doing that......let me know just how pointless it is sometmes...posting questions on a site such as this.....the smarta@s negatives comments this time...pretty much reaffimed it yet again.
Now, I am someone that has a life outside of this computer and website.....accordingly....I when I need information that I can't seem to source from normal channels.....I occasionally ask a question on here....as a result.....I get the bullsh**t that has been the result I have seen here.
Uncharacteristically, I now feel the need to justify who I am to you all so that I may ask such questions again should I fell the need.....so......
Some of you have met me in the past.......I used to know Gordon quite well when I lived in the North Island........whether or not he is still around.....i don't know.......I have also met other members....off of here..........I brought a Nissan Safari off of Mike.......that had a hell articulation set up........some of you may even remember the pics on his 4wd.net.nz website. I now own 10 hiluxs.....and my own personal one is the one that is previously mentioned here. ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO JUSTIFY ON HERE?????

Now, as far as my own one.......for those of you that want to read about the saga's regarding that ...please feel free to carry on reading...........and if ANYONE can help with my original question....please offer some valid points.

The 36inch tyres were fittd on the recommendation of the tyre guy that I deal with......given what I do for a job....my truck is really the test vehicle for all of the other trucks....and if it works on mine...then we do it to the others......I run a hunting company........access to difficult blcoks.......through ice...water, mud and snow is the norm.....hence th eproposed modifications to mine.

From new at toyota.....I fitted all the arb stuff..suspension..diff locks etc etc......but just ran 31x10.5x15s......worked ok....but didn't give me the clearance we need through the tussock and scree country......diff getting stuck in ruts etc etc...........still meant problems........now we leadon to where my question come in......

I went to the tyre guy I deal with.....he gave me different offset rims......and put the 36's on........the rub at the shop was obvious.........but he told me he could fit a kit to rectify.....(hence where my question t you guys came into effect)......next day......hetold me there is no sourceable kit in NZ....and it can't be done......after ripping of mudflaps......moulded mud stopping stuff inside,,,,,,,,,getting the grinder out......bending metal etc etc etc........

So.....only solution now hasbeen putting on the tyres I have now.......Maxxis Bighorns 305x70x16s (buggered if I know what size that is in inches).........and I now still have a set of simex 36x12's sitting in my yard.....where I can't use them.

The tyres on now rub bad enough.....never mind the others,.........now .......I have a toyota guy sourcing something to remedy my problem.......but again....I ask my original question........does anyone know where we can source the kit that fixes this.....I have heard about somehting that changes the whole front end.....obviously thats what I need.

Here is the photo of the current setup.....which really doesn't solve my diff problems.

I also have a question about how much tyres effect preformance because I have chipped this truck...whcih supposedly bumps it up to 149kw(?....I believe).....but to be frank.,......with the big wheels.......it slower than in original form with the 31's on it. Could this tyre change...(to the current size),......make that much difference? But then again.......maybe its not worth asking the question if I get the same response as the last time I asked one :?

Hey dont worry about the morons on here with nothing better to do than criticise genuine questions.
Yes the bigger tyres will make a difference, the weight difference is huge and adds to the un sprung weight and also adds pressure to the driveline, more friction on the road etc.

Ahhhh.......cheers for that.......the chip change is suppose to upgrade it from the standard......(121kw?).....to the 149(I beleieve)....thats quite a difference in power..and supposedly torqueas well......do you believe that the change in size has effected it THAT much?.....it seriously down on power.....I was hoping the chip may compensate for the change in tyre size.....maybe I need to consider other power upgrade options.

Don't worry about the comments from this thread, some of us can jump the gun thinking its another prank or get childish with name calling, but all in all, the blokes are out to help where they can, and for the small amount of crap we can dish out, just read past it and take what you need.

Would be interesting to hear what size lift you would need to run the 36's on the lux though.
Count yourself lucky that you haven't got big Safari diffs under it

Are these trucks monoque? (Ie no separate chassis)
If not, then what about a body lift. It will allow you to fit the tyres, which will lift the diffs up (by the difference in tyre size).
Not sure if this can be done with modern airbag systems though, but someone else might.
Ugly is a state of mind..... and the state of my truck!

My pennies worth is .

Before you stuff a 2007 hilux , would you be better to trade it in and buy the latest Landcruiser because they are more solid and have a beam axle which would probably suit what you are doing better.

G'day,,Welcome back. Go back through this tread and look at the pics of the Arctic trucks. You might have to contact them to find out how to make 36" tyres fit. If you do make it all come together you will have 50 new BEST freinds and piss everyone else off (jealous). :)

well... I'll retract my negativity now.. I think I know the vehicle you own.. it does look great.. I have found the 05 hilux i use at work now with its 32's and 3" old man emu lift a heap more useful offroad. but its really lost its go around town.. and bugger trying to take off with a load on a hill, first gear is way too tall..

vehicle has chassis.. so body lift would be possible.. Talk to Ryan at Snake racing. I was certain he had made a kit to give lift to run 33's for a new hilux. http://72.34.32.141/~snakerac/product_info.php?cPath=3_107_233&products_id=1835&osCsid=865501412393f10ec99f592e9d581584

Im sure with a bit of persuation you'll get your 36's under..

I understand your point Richard, but.....after driving the landcruiser.....I really liked the torque and towing factor....but absolutely hated the ride.

To be frank I prefer the hiluxs because I have the capacity to fit more staff into them.....and I myself have one because I often need more than two seats.....and I need the space in the back for dogbox and dogs etc etc

If only they made the landcruisers as more than a two seater........It would be my choice by far.........the ride I could work on

Maybe Bulletproofs idea, V8 diesel 70 seires ,, Easy to fit 36's , tons of Torque to drive them. just not as cumffy as your 07 lux.

Sorry,,Hadn't refreshed the page before offering my 2c worth.

there was a real nice earlier one on trade me recently

is the kit we used, we got 35's under the truck but with rub, when we got the kit about 6 months ago he was talking of a 6" lift kit, he also stated you want bigger than 35's you need to relocate entire front suspension forward to give clearance,

we found them good to deal with and easy to talk to, worth giving him a call
