yup

the speed at which you boys up that way can sneak a build thru

was that pete standing beside ya cruiser ??
how tall is he? coz OMG that thing looks damn tall now

hes 6 foot at a guess yea... its not going to ride that high, thats with no weight on the rear and the front jacked to make it level  looks cool tho that high aye!! i may keep 2 sets of springs for it, one for looking cool and poser and doing river work  and another not so heigh for trials etc

I will comment now,

WHERE ARE THE PHOTOS AND WRITE UP OF THE OFFROAD TEST,

FITZY.

ps, please PM me your address, I will send the 70# up next week for the same mods, and I'm booked for a trip at EASTER 09  , you should be even quicker with the next build  .

pps, I don't require the Tub modifications :o .

the chassis/suspension mods took 2 weeks hard out,if i had another 2 weeks off work it would have been finished by now. you supply the parts and my labour for 2 weeks dude and ill do it no worries

HI Ben,

looks great and I bet you'll love the coils. A couple of q's....

Did you run any numbers on how the rear will behave with the length of the links?
And have you set the castor on the front to anything?

i tried to work that calc on my links but couldnt figure it out  so im hoping it works ok :?

the castor i have set by the pinion angle being just over zero off verticle, my vx has about 8deg with its lift and the set up on the 40 is about 2deg so should be quite nice on the road, will have a better idea after i have it all done and mobile then i can take it to the wheel alligner to see how it all stacks up and make fine adjkustments from there, like castor and panhards.

im hoping to have my new shocks and have my drive shafts finished and cage mounted properly before the 8th feb so i can take it to the thames round of the Laurie sansons fun trials for a drive. i want to just drive it over some stuff to see if it all works and if theres anything i need to change or if something breaks that needs to be made stronger etc before i finish it all off. so it wont have rear end finished off or anything so there will be no weight over the rear end for traction no locker in the front yet so it wont perform very well but will give me an idea of how it all works and show any flaws, i certianly wont be giving it a hard time but i will be testing it.

thats what im hoping anyway...see if i can get it ready for test in the next few weeks.

im starting to mock up the cage and chassis mounts now so should be able to do it...

I was thinking somewhere with a bit more mud and alot more trees  (I'll just have to tee it up)
Certifers - Dont want to bag anyone on here, but ive heard nothing but bad things about one of them lately(and not just 4wd stuff), one of them also wouldnt certifi the roll cage in either my suzuki or my hilux, also one doesnt charge a recheck fee and one does.
Neils done 2 of mine, one of dads, 2 of my friends, and is doing shortylux's
Mine cost $500 to do this time round, which wasnt too bad considering what he had to do.
Beadlock wheels, rollcage, engine, diffs ,suspension, steering, bodychop, seating, ect
Only issue i had was that stupid f--ken d.b. test
But that shouldnt be a issue, cause every one knows my truck hardly makes a sound  and yours is probally quieter

because some of them think they are god and will fail your cert on the stupidest things. i know one guy who had to replace his steering wheel(factory, not changed) because of a split in the rubber covering... thats a wof issue, nothing to do with the cert man who was doing an engine conversion cert  kinda like the wof man, some are good and some are over the top and some are just useless

well ive been battling with the truck the last week and managed to get back to where i was  dont ask but there was a lot of cursing of myself and a few cutting disks and re-welding and im back on track again...

the cage is pretty much in now and all thats left to do is get the rear stays mounted, make a rear tray then tidy up and assemble the front end after finishing off the PTO hanger,do a rebuild kit on the front hubs (already have the kit sitting there) bolt my panhards on when they turn up (hope they fit :? ) ohh and make a new passenger side zaust piece to go over the chassis rail...mount the seats again...re-wire the rear end with lights on there somewhere...ohh put a tow hook on somewhere...ahhh...ohh get my drive shafts modified again  ...Hmmm... get cert and wof...ohh driveshaft hoops if i have to have them ?...

im sure theres other stuff as well  but im going to make a big effort on it this sunday so should have some more progress

short list really !

go single if ya can dude

I went thru all the stoooopid twin shit and when I finally went to 3" single, it was the sweetest sounding cruiser you ever heard, and thats not just my opinion either, others thought it sounded crisp too

only a suggestion though dude, you've probably don't want to be adding more to ya list though

it used to be dark night metalic black then gloss black before  just needs a trip to cover it all in mud then hose it off and it stays the colour it was

to look at from a distance it will look excactly the same as it used to look..except for the tray/deck on the back, dirty black 40 series with a muddy covered orange cage
