Unless you were lucky enough to have parents who owned Toyota's, I would say that given your purchasing a Surf, "achieve greatness". :D

 The only Toyota that comes close to a nissan is a Cruiser. Even a Terrano runs rings round standard Hilux.

Off the top of my head from my experience driving Hilux's all day everyday at work........

You can't fit bigger than 31's on a Hilux with out a body lift.

You have to fit another engine to do 100K's with any bigger than 31's

A double cab Hilux is one of the longest vehicles on the road, longer than a LWB Safari.

To get any articulation out of a Hilux you have do major spring modifications.

The steering design is pathetic with that "J" arm.

The transfer case coss member basically hangs on the ground.

and what the hell is with that center hanger set up on the drive shaft???

But yeah, Hilux's are great, if you own a dairy farm and need something for running around on farm races when its to cold to use the fourwheeler

 yes i have a gq hack and its a pig.........(and thats a comment)

where talking about the ancient under powered counter weight that has terrible power figures even with a turbo and the fuel economy of a ferry and the fuel system that is behind a perkins 60s diesel.........and what about when you lift them over an inch you have more vibs than a s1 landrover and the trailing arms that will bend driving over a gutter oh and hows that early 70s style semi floater with caliper mounts of a kids bmx bike, and hows that spare wheel carrier thats packed with rubber to stop those rattles on any shingle road,oh did i mention the hilux sized cvs that break ......well you would too if you weighed 2.5 ton,and as for the fact lockers that engage as quick as the oldies on bingo night ,and hubs that love snapping everytime you give it some.......

Ahh yes, but we live in NZ, when was the last time a Nissan won the Kiwi Challenge?, a poxy leaf sprung, puny hilux diff'd and cv'd, hilux has the title for the last couple of years, and before that how may times did a certain old skool surf win it?
