Not much of an update really but fitted some 75 series Coil Spacers to the front of the cruiser to get it sitting a bit flatter, much happier now.

Image

Image

Also Fitted some 80 series Castor Correction Bushes, there Ironman adjustable ones. Can change the metal centre to be standard/ 2.5 and 3.5 degrees I think. Werent to bad to fit just a prick to line the arms back up after fitting. Will see how long they last...

Image

Fitted some LED tail lights and boxed them in, alot tidier than the old trailer lights I had hanging down and real bright. Around $20-25 ech to replace if/when I break them so not too bad.

Image

Also at some stage the Front diff has modified my modified sump! Should really have spaced the bump stops down earlier....

Image

Oh and itll be forsale end of Jan start of Feb if anybody is keen?

Oh my old xm, itll never get sold. My favourite bit is the diary that came with it. Bought new in Wellington in 64. the owner wrote in if every time he drove it, every oil change.every sparkplug. every tyre and would even measure the rolling circumference of each new tyre and work out how much itd affect the speedo. Love it.

Fantastic paint job. Don't ever paint it either.
I really like seeing old cars in as found cosmetic conditions.
Too many cars get over restored.

The surf board would seem to be more appropriate on the XM rather than the Mark 7, or is it a Mark 2?

You will be damn sorry when you sell your -71. Tis a nice conversion.

Sat in a paddock in Central for 3years which gave it the sunburnt look, dont worry just repairing the back guard now then the whole car will be cleared as is.

Will get a decent Longboard for that someday, and yeh the old mans Daimler has to be done before then too.

Pulled the rear locker apart last week, put new motor in it, sealed it all up nice gave it some new grease etc. but still not working... :?
Will check it out some more but if all else fails I'll convert it to cable.
Also not exactly happy with the way the front flexs now. I put castor bushes in it a while back and new I'd lose some flex buts it not ideal. So might order some new KZJ78 arms (stronger) and just slot the diff mounts like WJW? did. Also looking into pushing that back Axle back a bit further, around MWB length. Want to sort the other issues first though.

Yeh we met a guy in a green prado just as we were coming down into Piano Flat, by the top gate there. Said the Gore? 4x4 club had just gone through, my old man did the trip from Bannockburn to Piano Flat years ago. Said it was like a gravel road the whole way, shit things have changed a fair bit aye..

We are planning a trip to Barn bay , coppermine tracks later this year and I think I might be organising this for the club.. 8) If the track is in good shape and is a little wet.. no high rivers etc.. it'll be a blast and a half.. If ya keen to be a day member then I can see no problem anyone coming along.. We'll be booking a house for a base so hot showers, scram eggs, bacon etc... :D Let us know..

Weighed the Truck today:
1860kg

Factory weight:
1955kg according to the net

Not too bad I thought, 1uz is lighter than 2Lte. Didnt think Id lose that much weight with the back cut off though.

Also MWB length is 2600mm, SWB 2310mm...

Good site for 70series specs:
