Thanks for the offer Josh. The gearbag is on it's way out, but is still functional. I would hate for it to crap out half way in the middle of nowhere. i would be prepared to come down to Turangi with a trailer to pick it up from there though.
We'll stay in touch. I may get you to pick it up and "test" drive to your place and let you make the decision from there.
If it is real bad then I could maybe get it picked up from there.
Remuneration of course

not that i'm a common face on here by any means but I dopn't mind storing it at my pad in welly for a bit. if it's reasonably driveable I can get it to palmy fairly easily most of the weekend from here til mid august.

Yeah. I was thinking that too. Not going to change the title of the thread so it will seem like the longest death in history
Last one took 3 years to build and half kill. Tempted to repair the box and fit to Terrano V 1.0 for a paddock hack. After all it's not totally dead................yet

Please keep the suggestions coming as I have no plan yet to get it back here.

Awesome, thanks m8. That's the lead I was after :D
Cheaper than a trip down there and return + trailer hire.
Very much appreciated 8)
Pays back for the good favours
Hope I can get it on the way asap, got a bit of work to do swapping parts over

Next is the space to do change-over in :x

Thanx all.

I have booked Captain Transporter to pick up. Will be depositing money in their account in the morning, and they are contacting the seller direct, so god knows when it will get picked up. It was all easy peasy. 8)

It's here
Happy with the service from Captain Transporter.
Now to assess how much work is needed to swap some stuff over.
Updates to come.

Yeah it is turboed. Dunno what ratios it's running yet as I had to run to work a few minutes after it arrived. All of my mod'ed gear will go in this new one.
So on the list to change;
Diffs (front too if they are 4.6's, as I run 4.8's and I cant be arsed rebuilding the rear to fit air-locker)
Fit new gearbox, with old clutch (can't afford another custom one)
Body lift
Drag link and all steering up-grades
Winch and bar
Rear bar
Twin battery set-up
Get rid of the (Farmer Brown Gate) spare wheel carrier
2.5 inch dump pipe and exhaust
Instruments (boost, EGT, dual volts)
Make a new snorkel (3 inch)
Shocks, lifted springs
Manual hubs
Etc etc,

So have a bit to do. As I don't have a big enough garage workshop at home, space is an issue.
I want to strip the old one to a bare body and chassis and get it picked up by the scrappy.

Wish me luck.

Cheers,

I've been busy at work this week, but managed to take the "new" one for a drive last night. All good. Gearbox not that noisey and is rebuildable.
Best news........found a venue for the change over/build.
My brother, who owns a real estate company has just agreed to letting me use a factory he owns just a few K's from my house.
It is empty and on the market.
Let the build begin

Have pulled out 2 gearboxes and thrown in 1 good one.
It's raining gearboxes
Image

This is is what i pulled my old gearbox out for
Image

So clutch in, gearbox in, front diff in.
Had a bit of a hiccup with removing the old speed sensor out of the new box to fit the correct speedo drive, spent an hour trying and destroyed the unit. So had to remove whole rear housing and punch it out from the inside
Always the five minute jobs that fcuk you up
Every thing else is still on the "to do list"
