Any other time Matt take it as an open invitation; however on this occasion (assuming beastie's electrical gremlin has been repaired in time) I really want to tackle Worsley's unconcienced to potentially push the edge of the truck's envelope, and my own comfort zone, with sole concern for my own in-cab safety.

Cheers Niblik - will post a forum topic closer to weeks end, and we (+ others interested) can review our respective preparedness and plan further.

This gentlemen represents a formal declaration of war on Worsely's Spur Image.

I still have nightmares of that wee rock you guys drove over, and waited for me to follow Image; and flashbacks to Alfred Hitchcocks 'The Birds' ... only they were sandflies Image.

Seriously though, it was as I said earlier, one heluva lota fun to tag along.

sounds like you guys neede a stock lada up there......

got the lada up there in the rain not that long ago, but bugger me she looks alot different up there now......

last time H2O and nibby went up it was quite crappy, but that's starting to look pretty bad..... it really does need a dozer through it.....

and before those of you with elephantitus-tyres complain, just think of the fun you'd have re-creating the tracks.....

I'm gunna wake this thread up, 4years later on.

nibs won't like me waking this, I'm sure. But.

(and I've had a couple of gordon's before posting)

He's just confirmed.
Him and I are heading up the Worsely on Tuesday morning in me buggy.

Some might think it's a walk in the park (legend 4X4 man albundy would) But from my last or second attempt of heading up there? It ain't.

Mongoose and his mate just tried it this avo. They only got up 100m.
Bloody big balls of them for trying though.

I'll post some vid and pix Tuesday night.

never said it was a walk in the park Pete, it aint. WHAT I SAID WAS YOU HAVE A CHEEK SAYING WORSLEYS IS WAY HARDED THEN ANY OF THE WESTCOAST TRIPS CONSIDERING YOU LEFT AFTER THE FIRST DAY UP MT GREENLAND, AND THAT WAS THE PRACTICE DAY FOR THE CHASM. MAYBE YOU SHOULD BE KNOCKING THAT ONE OF PETE.

Yep is true, will post a few pics/vids when my mate hands them over but safe to say 33s are not going to get you up that track any more. We didn't make it to the end of the first rough bit, 100-150m at most before having to bail and come back. At least I got out and back down without needing a tow from my mate's Pajero. 8)
Might have been a bit better with a couple more trucks and a winch but my 40 just didn't have enough ground clearance. :(
Also had to rescue a young guy in a white crewcab lux when we got there who was well stuck up only a short distance up.

Don't want to go any bigger on the tyres so will need to find some less dug up tracks...

Have fun with Nibs tomorrow Pete :D

Yeah Rock that rescue team did an amazing job, wasn't that asian looking guy good at his job, he certainly made sure that there would be no more casualties. Was good that you could get the Prado up to secure Petes buggy, shows you what a good driver can do,

WATCH THIS SPACE,

Still got the shakes a wee bit Smokey when I think what could of happened. That asian dude was bloody good alright he just got stuck in and moved mountains to make shit happen.
Looks like the boys will be okay though which is good,
But the buggy shore looked a bit 2nd hand afterwards.

Just heading up to the hospital now, I'll swing by and pick you up.
