bit of an update went to steel and tube yesterday and got a 6.5m length of 50mm round 3mm thick tube for my rock sliders  and also got some free plate out of there off-cuts bin  and today started to prepare it all and cut it into the peices needed

Image

this is the rock sliders (long peices) and all the plates that will be used to sandwhich the chassie in the middle and also the little peices will be welded to the plates and then to the sliders (if this doesnt make sense now it will when its finished lol)

my tubing that i think is about 3.2mm thick and is never going to dent or bend  these puppies are going to be strong

i also had quite alot left over and i am going to build a simple removable roll bar (for WOF purposes lol) so i cut out the plates for inside the car and these will be the braces that will go backwards from the bar I also need to cut out another 4 plates for the underside of the car (this once again will be sandwhiching the body inbetween the two plates with the roll bar welded to the top plate inside the car) if this doesnt make sense now it will when its finished at martys work day on the 10th of feb

that is all for now 8)

got all the plates cut up more and drilled out (what a drag drilling 16 12mm bolt holes in 8 plates  ) god thank the drill press lol so all the plates are bolted onto the chassie rails now (for the moment untill i have to unbolt them to weld the tube to) then all i have to do tomorrow is "fish mouth" one end of the four short tubes so that the rock slider can be welded to it...... so by the end of tomorrow all i will need to do is borrow RED_ZUKI and his brilliant  welding skills and weld them onto the plates and the slider and then cap the ends grind/tidy up and a quick coat of jam and shes done  :D 8)
