If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!
tristanp wrote:hills and cars is usually a fuel problem, but the missing under high revs and load is a ht lead problem, can you describe the miss a little better does it affect just one cylinder? , whats the flow from the fuel pump like? check the rotor for cracks as well
Its more like it cuts out for a brief second but onley when you hit a bump
That is the strange bit
HT leads are al new, fuel pump has good flow, rotor and cap seem good.
Can get new cap for 60+ EX JAPAN but want to start with the cheep and easy to find parts first as it is second choice of road wagon.

I neeeeeeeeeeeeeed a garage

I think its time i sold this place and found a house where i can build a HUGE double garage (or maybe a barn???)

At least the conservatory makes an ok work shop

Although the missus gets cranky when i leave the door open into the house from it, and you get the sweet smell of "garage" drifting through the entire house

Good things she's a petrol head

.............. Any one got any leads on a gear shifter assembly they can offer?? I'm STILL trying to find one

Apparently thats not the case. I guess they get thrown out or something

Either that or he's on holiday. Theres a guy in OZ who's got one though if i get desperate

Got choppy today:

Then decided it was to hot so went in search of a beer by the pool

So another weekend of massive progress
Been quitely working away after work and when ever i got the chance on the floor pans, body mounts and seat mounts.
Finally got the body mounts finished and welded on, welded on the last 6 patches over the rust holes, finished welding the floor pans in, welded the seat mounts in, put the clutch on, mounted the gearbox to the engine, put the gearbox and engine in the chassis, and then put the body back on the chasis.
The finished floor pans with braces and body mounts ready for so rust treatment and proofing:
After a coat of rust proofing paint and a good coat of under body sealer:
Engine mounted in the Chassis (finally):
And the best part..........
The body back on the Chassis!!!!!! And the new body mounts are even in the right place and are sitting on the outriggers on the chassis all ready for me to run a drill through

There is so much oil in the crank and on the bores (preventative measure while its sitting round), its gonna fill the neighbour hood with the smoke!!!!
Its gonna need a couple of sets of plugs, a shit load of that Ether engine start stuff, and maybe even a tow down the road behind the Safari..........
But it will be on video

The biggest down side to the actual vehicle that i have come accross so far is that the CV's are a press fit into the hub using sealed roller bearings as opposed to taper roller bearings, so to get a CV out you need a press to get the CV out of the hub, and a puller to get the front drum off, and dissconect the brake hose.
And there is no way to put free wheeling hubs on, so dead CV = Carnage. On the other hand, there's no were for the shrapnel to go other than to chew the axle seal, so may not be so bad.
#### doin a replacement like that in the bush
I would need to carry a spare hub/swivel housing/cv/axle assembly, a puller and a litre of brake fluid as spare. One for either side, as the hub/swivel housings are different obviously
Think i'll just weld the rear diff, and if i break a CV, then i'll just live with the carnage, and the welded rear might get me outa the bush........
I guess i realy should look at doin what this guy has done, i see front disc's and free wheeling hubs.......
He's in Chch i think, any one seen it around?? I tried to PM him of LJ10.com a while back, but no reply

That would be nice to do, but diff ratio's and the 3 pot two-smoker would be a serious issue, i.e, 2 stroke works in a narrowish rev range, at about 4000 to 6000 rpm for the peak HP, and about 2000rpm before there's any sort or power, probably narrower after i put my own designed expansion chamber on, so all the transmission is geared to keep the engine screeming.
Maybe when i get tired of the two stroke and bolt a 13B into it
