Merc, what size tyres you got on?

Sorry coxy.... im a bit dim tonight.... so the club is taking $20 off each truck, then paying it to what organisation?? Is that getting passed onto Matamata Piako District Council, or is that a charge by the club for the club?

like i said in the above post.. im a bit dim tonight, what does that convert to in inches? must be 31 or there abouts

let me see.....

16 inches = 406mm
85% of 235mm = 199mm

406 + 199(x2) = 804

804mm = 31.6 inch........

Youll be fine, those rocks wont even touch the underbody......

cool as coxy, no prob.

Im just curious how clubs work this kinda thing out. If its going to the farmers for the use of their land then id be happy as, if a club is taking money off members to play on a public road/track (that has free passage)with no intention of passing any, if not all, of that on, id be a bit grumpy.

Before anyone gets all nuclear, ive never belonged to a club, as and as stated, im curious how they charge for trips.

yeah mate, i punched a hole through the, what i call, thermal barrier (between the body and the muffler) missed my muffler and heat sensor by millimeters, but didnt pierce the underbody, and stoved in my drivers side door sill..... both, i think, happened on the rock climb.

Thanks to whoever designed skid plates on front and under fuel tank, cause theyre both pretty well scored after yesterday too...

BigAl had 31's on too i think and he got some nasty sill bruising too.

Fun fun fun fun

Dixie, you were heading on both sides of the track on your quad regularly back then....... what say you on these postings???????

Yeah man been over this track for years on my bikes(2 or 4 wheel)and has never been impassable may take a bit longer when its chewed up but never has it stopped us nor have we ever needed to use our shovels(but always good to have em).
I go over this hill at least once a month,just lately the old back is giving me grief,so ive slowed down.It once took us 9 hours up and over,lunch and back home.
The mates and I thought it was awesome when the 4x4's had been through it made the track interesting.

Cool day up tomos my winch got a good workout thanks to callum(ha ha)
got a few bruises myself,nothing major.I fukin hate panelbeating but the door wouldnt close so cheers callum for the shackle and coxsy for the hammer.
Got some picsbut im feeling sooooo fukin lazy at the mo,kinda lookin for a boat(so let me know if ya got one for sale)

Hi xj,While agree with you about a charge being made to help maintain tracks,you would end up with the same situation that happens with the honesty box at Maratoto,,There its a measly 10 bucks and bugger all people pay,Ive been up there many times with our club and seen heaps of 4wds and dozens of bikes and have talked to Ces who does most of the work up there and the box is almost always empty,The local bike clubs in that area did a big push to get 4wds out and it was only the work of people like Peter Vahry and others that the track is now under the control of the 4wd clubs..While im at it there has been talk of going in and doing some work on tracks i know that there has been many working bee:s trimming back and filling holes in Maratoto which has been advertised in club mags but on the day your lucky to get 6 trucks.So when the call goes out for help next time are we all going to sit on our bums ? or give a bit of time to maintain tracks that are there for OUR enjoyment...my thoughts....Steve

In Manukau 4wd's case - the money collected will go to the appropriate Farmer or Group that it is raised for - the club is very solvent :lol: and doesn't need to skim more dosh from members

Dont follow me. i'll get stuck and need a tow..

quite right callum, i did indeed, and had to winch meself out too.... still got me a bit buggered what happened there, both lockers on got me 2mm of nothing, like you said, wrong line...........

however, the 31's were fine, it was the only spot that buggered me, and that was due to the driver not paying attention, not the tyres.

the vitara sills do (or did) hang down below the chassis, hence why mine have been replaced with RHS

Hi coxy,,dont think that slip is anywhere near half way down the kati side.We have got across it three times in the last 2 months,twice this week.We put a winch across for safety and pull the truck over.A few more trucks thrugh will soon have it driveable. :D

Post by coxsy »

no we were by GPS reconing half way down the track from the west side its was a flat open section then dropped down righthand corner with a steam running down the track and accross the track, Three of the four trucks had winches, driving up it i don't thing it would be a hard drive the other way a swb safari could not get passsed with out dropping off the track then it would be a major recovery it was deceided to take the easy course and return , then have a major recovery on our hands , we were set up for a day trip not a long day,
