x2 there, Krawlr I think you need your eyes checked fella.....
Looking good Madaz
Re: Madaz's V8 lux
got any pics of it going up forward?
Re: Madaz's V8 lux
Thanks guys
wasnt meant to flex like a rock crawler and plenty of leafsprung surfs/hiluxs will flex better- but that wasnt what i was after(plus at the moment i have the drop limited to make sure that the coils stay captive to keep the certifier happy)
Cheers
(does sound good though-its a bit hard on back tires though-especially if you let your dad drive)

Re: Madaz's V8 lux
sweet, who needs massive wheel travel in mud anyway, 4 wheels spinning at 6000 rpm cant be beat, go the mighty lux, looking like a well balanced vehicle
Re: Madaz's V8 lux
looking good dude
cant wait to get out in the bush to give it(and you) a good work out

If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!
Re: Madaz's V8 lux
Thats looking really sweet - Keep up the good work...
and I love how Krawlr managed to wind up the entire rock-brigade down here with one simple (has to be simple, he's from up north) statement of opinion (not fact)

Re: Madaz's V8 lux
Whats the guts with the paint?
The bob looks awesome, but why is that paint job complete and the doors and front guards(?) still to do? I assume she is still a work in progress
I really do love the rig, it is awesome in as much as it looks like a sleeper
(amazing amount of work under the surface, but on top, looks like a 'lux. And that is very very cool)

Re: Madaz's V8 lux
Ahhhhh-the paint..........
It would have been quicker for me to build my own paint booth than let the guys that did it do it again.
Still waiting for my doors(they have had them 2 months)
The fibreglass guards as you can see are about to have a rather dramatic meeting with a grinder for some more clearance and i am undersided weather to chop the inner guards out and fabricate some new ones as i can probally get a few more inches of upwards travel.
Trying to get it done for the norwest winch challenge so the innerguard chop may have to wait till later on(but time is not on my side).
Failing that im quite keen to bring it down to the mainland for the top of the south winch comp(not the only truck from Hamilton thats keen-aye shortylux)
Problem is at the moment im too busy making bits for everyone elses trucks and not mine-
Cheers

Re: Madaz's V8 lux
True, but we both know that my truck will never go. its mearly something i keep in the garage to get angry with and throw money at.
Re: Madaz's V8 lux
This is the bonnet mould that Steve @ 4WD Fibreglass is doing, should also be good for anyone else that needs a bit more width and height under their bonnet....

Re: Madaz's V8 lux
And a bit more work on the front suspension, a set of 2.5 inch King hydraulic bumpstops....

Re: Madaz's V8 lux
hydraulic bumpstops, sweet, gonna get me some of those before my next cert, like the bonnet, i just made my own seeing i got it supercharged, for everyone with a lexus, it is a must do, loveeeeeee the grunt, absolutely bucket loads of torque, any way, back to the bonnet, i couldnt get over how expensive it is to make one when you pay retail for this stuff, just wondering, if you break somthing in a comp stage, is everything on this vehicle stock parts, can parts be sourced easily
Re: Madaz's V8 lux
Yeah I,ve tried hard not to make too many one off bits for it for that reason, the only thing I might come a cropper on is the rear hubs and axles, as I made my own hubs to take hundred series studs and extra dowels then recut the axle flanges to take the hundred series collets.
The bonnet is about 3 inches wider at the front and about 1.5 higher in the hump-left a bit of room for some extra horses later on!
Hey Swamper, where did you pick up your supercharger?- presuming you used a m90?

Re: Madaz's V8 lux
got the supercharger from the states and the manifold is off graham kingstons truck, i think it is bigger than the m 90, thats the one off the commodores? mine has the throttle body coming off the rear of the blower
Re: Madaz's V8 lux
I think theres 2 or 3 different versions of the m90 in the states depending on weather it came out on a ford or a chev, i like the setup of the m112 with the inlet port pointing in the same direction as the lexus one did, but most of the lexus websites recon that its more suited to boost levels over 12lbs, pretty much all of them recon the smaller m90 is the way to go for low boost, running the stock computer ect.
In saying all that , I plan to leave it n/a until the old man gets his nissan going so we can have a bit of a comparo between the 2 in their standard forms.
Wasnt Graham Kingstons manifold of Klems winch truck at some point?
Cheers

Re: Madaz's V8 lux
if things go to plan we will be making the trip north on oct/nov for the big comp, 2 big ticket items left, a good fast winch setup and a 6 point internal cage, these should be done in the next 2 months, we havent tuned it yet bet taking off normally and not going over 4000rpm we get smoke in 1,2 and drive, with 33's on, BUT the lux's dont need one, i know a guy who is running 6 1/2 lp boost in his cruiser and he wouldnt go any higher, as to all the tech stuff i wouldnt have a clue sorry
Re: Madaz's V8 lux
Just to show that i havent forgot about it......

At least its pretty much all the same colour now, hopefully off to get certed in the next couple of weeks.....

Re: Madaz's V8 lux
Its painted in a ford xr6 colour - but I get the feeling that it wont stay too shiny for long(not if my mates have anything to do with it!)
Re: Madaz's V8 lux
Ha Madazs. When are you going to comp your truck. She's looking very good mate and ready to race in the mud. Got your winch sorted. Looking foward to catching up with you and your truck. Cheers Klem

Re: Madaz's V8 lux
Soon, very soon,
Certifier wasnt happy with the exhaust noise, i was only a couple db over that bullshit 95 db limit , thats pretty much the only thing i need to fix.
Hopefully a day trip out to Kawhia in the next month
