Yep but when you crash into a $300000 Porshe Cayenne, the insurance assessor will spot Turoa's welds and decline your claim and you will be paying it off for the next 20 years....

When it comes to certifying, talk to Andrew Ward. If you or Turoa don't know him I'll give you his number.
He is an awesome guy, certified a few vehicles my brother and myself have built.
He doesn't get all anal about the rules. If it is engineered safe and sound and the work is carried out to match then there are not going to be any problems. The emphasis is on the first half of the last sentence. He needs to abide by the rules but some of those are open to interpretation or the certifiers judgement and knowledge. And there is where I and others I have sent his way have be very pleasantly surprised.
1992 Land Rover Discovery V8i, 5 speed, 12000lbs winch, Salisbury rear, 110 front, 65mm spring lift, dents in every panel, Rallywoods pinstriping.
Talked to one for the guys in the club he's interested in your conversion can you give us some detains far as fitting the Nissan diff under the front?
What you going to do to the drive shaft?
How you going to deal with the front brakes, you got 2 circuits from the rover dose the Nissan have the same?
What about steering?
Dose the Nissan have the same wheel track as the rover or you going to use spacers, you said something about a 6 to 5 stud spacer.
Any info would be appreciated

Jamuba, Nissan front radius arms should *just* squeeze into teh chassis mounts. The pinion flange will need to be redrilled for the rover driveshaft. Nissan has twin circuit brakes aswell (I think). For the steering, you will have to either make (or get one made) a draglink with the rover thing to attach to teh steering box at one end, and a nissan rod end on teh other. The panhard will have to be a hybrid nissan/rover one.
Hey Mr O! How did you go with the insurance? Just from an EX- Claim Consultants point of view, you would be lucky to find a company to cover you for off road use, it is just not common at all. Just a tip, so that you are under no illusion that you may be covered if you roll it offroad......just roll it on road.....or at least say that you did! Wipe the mud off first too before you ring the assessor! Tee hehe!! :thumleft: In saying that, there will be policies that cover it, will be a bit dearer though. Just check first to make sure that you know what you are covered for.

No. Why?
Just wondering 'cos if you're swaop pumpkins etc then the cert man may be a bit funny if you you don't have your ticket - I know top-notch welders who don't, who weld a shed load better than those that do - but the cert chaps can be an od bunch at times!!!!!
If at first you don't succeed .... Get a bigger hammer!!
