Bonuses are always great.

The radios, does it come with the UHF but not the CB? and you are quite sure the bits of rust will not affect the wof for a while?

Oh and does the winch have rope?

Posted: Sat Apr 21, 2007 5:58 pm
by Jerry
Comes with the PRS, the UHF is coming out, I mentioned to the WOF guy the rust he said theres a little bit of surface rust but thats ok, I regularly rust treat any new bits, he wasn't concerned with it, just needs a bit of tidying up etc the winch rope is 27m of steel cable of a Safari.

Would you still be able to send me that e-mail with all the specs and things that you have done to the truck.

Well I suppose so if you only wanted to talk to cross country vehicle club members. Not really much help in your neck of the woods.

VERDICT

I have brought a DAIHATSU RUGGER

(Jerry's old truck)

Drove it home from wellington (took 7 hours), towing almost 1tonne on the trailer, and didnt miss a beat.

2800 Turbo Diesel

Thanks to all who contributed and made suggestions, as it was much appreciated.

Yeah. Lots of spare parts, which is great. The drive gave the truck a good test and she pulled through, which made me very happy.

.....not bad for a 20yr old truck towing 1ton....puts loads of other trucks to shame    ..... they are rated for 3 ton tow in the UK apparantly ....... Its your dads trailer I felt sorry for with the spare motor and diffs and stuff on  I hope it still has the rubber guards left  , I think my neighbour (John) was a bit worried when he said the springs on it were flat

Sorry forgot to mention the turbo light that has a mind of its own, it comes on when it feels like, I never got used to it (must be landrover parts  )

PS Theres some dirty hatsu pics here  http://www.offroadexpress.co.nz/modules ... 7850#57850

theres another thread that is talking about how to do the hilux diffs mod and the SOA (spring over axle)...may want to ask him lots of questions...I think there was a spare LSD for sale too....

Jerry, you no longer own a die-hat-shoe, you should be over in the prado threads :P

Ok, cheers. Yeah the trailer was all good. Dad was all sweet about it. He said it would take a hell of alot more than that to break it, as its all angle, and had like 6 ply tyres on it, that we took off out boat, so they wont be breaking any time soon. Mudguards were all good to. thanks.

I even passed 1 car on the way home. Only one, but it shows the POWER of a daihatsu, that it can pass another car, doing 80kms, up hill, with a tonne on the back. Not bad all rite.

Turbo light stayed on all the way home, but thats cool, and the brakes were all good once we got going to.
