...you mean similar in construction to those expensive 80 and 100 series Land Cruisers??

Just go out and buy a Nissan Safari for goodness sake. :thumright:
Can't really go wrong with one of those. It is the best of the rest (if you are going to bypass Jeep and LR).

NZQA training day details:

Format for the weekend of the 6th and 7th.

Day 1 consists of theory followed by a test. Test is open book. Start 8:30 finish latest 4ish.

Day 2 Practical assessment at the aotea block, wellington.

Limit of 12 participants for the NZQA part of the course (time limitations on practical assessments are the reason).

Those that wish to attend the practical side only can but preference will be given to the NZQA students as they will be assessed on their competency.

It is possible to do the course work in advance but not advisable, if you require this then please state so in the notes field on the registration form.

NZQA course Information page and Registration link (registration required for NZQA participants) here: http://training.offroadexpress.co.nz/nzqa/

For those that aren't looking to do the NZQA bit, turn up on the Sunday anyway:!:

Mike will do some initial talks/demo's that everyone can be involved in, ie:
* vehicle setup and limitations
* tow points, fitting of rated tow points
* identification of suspension types and how they work
* snorkel setups and limitations when not fitted with one
* recovery equipment and attachment to vehicles

And then when the NZQA 'students' need to do their assessments we'll take the other group off to do some practical driving through marked out obstacles (I won't call them hazards, even though everything is a hazard these days). We will be able to talk and walk people through anything that they are unsure of.

So this is for everyone... not just those interested in doing the NZQA unit standards.

Hi Guys,

10 people have registered for the NZQA course so far which only leaves 2 places available in the time frame we have available, there will be other courses so dont panic if you miss out on this one.

Yeah you should be Tu, you may want to check if you can get credits on these courses for your NCEA, I believe that you can, there are mountian safety ones and stuff as well.....

If so it may be worth Mr O and Redzuki etc doing them as well

Government is funding it and I'll be teaching you all the stuff you already know  Actually I'll be concentrating on those that don't have the experience or knowledge and drawing on the experiences of those that do to help those that dont, if you get my drift. The theory is part of the qualification and doing it on the day guarantees you actually do it 8)

do I have to try and find out what my student ID number was from when I was registered at Tai Pounari (that polytech at greymouth or around there somewhere?) or does NZQA capture it when the documentation is submitted to them?

one thing I thought about is if we had some broken strops and things....I have a snapped one,

Some broken factory hooks and maybe a couple of straightened rated hooks....that sort of thing would be good to whip out and hand round on trips during lunch ..... sort of casual like (and not lecture like)

I've got pegs so can get there early with any other volunteers to help setup.....Theres a Ramp at Tu's place that we can probably borrow (I can ask if you want)
