Waimak IS bank to bank. Ashley is still rising. It will drop fairly fast (one or two days to get to a reasonable flow.) But even if it gets to near normal flow in two weeks the river bed will still be freshly churned which will make interesting driving.

You can check river levels online at ECAN's website. There is a measuring point at three places on the Ashley. Check this a few days befroe your trip as it will give the flow over a week and you can guage if it is going up or down and at what pace.

Ok I have had a look at the Ecan website (thanks tallsam66) the river levels appear to be getting back to normal but I would also like to get eyewitness accounts just to back it up

Ashley has dropped a lot since it was at its highest. This rain has made it hold its current level. Still running brown and double+ its flow before it rose.

One week to go :!: I am hopin that the water flow drops to between 10 to 15 cubic meters per second as it is a family trip and we want to have fun and not get into trouble  I will go for a drive on Saturday and have a quick look :?: If anyone has a look at the river durning the week can they tell me if its running dirty :?:

I will look at the option of postponing to another date or running different trip if the river dosnt look good

If postponed it will then be run on the 18th of November as there is an assosiation trip on the 4th and then that will space the trips out so people can arrange time off work

The only other option I can come uo with is doing a Selywn run having lunch at Coes Ford then heading for Worsleys for an easy run up there so the people that havent been up there can go and learn the track without breaking or damaging there trucks

If anyone has any other ideas let me know

I wouldn't really call Worsleys a family trip. Getting pretty rutted up there, any vehicle without decent height will more than likely get scrapes or panel damage depending on the track you pick.

Ashley has dropped a little more but it still holding. Starting to clear. Wouldn't recommend going in the water if its not clear. May be ok in a weeks time.

Not sure that I'll be able to make it. Need to work on the truck and have busy week coming up with other things...

I agree. Was down there today and it is still flowing pretty swift and very deep in parts. Some of the guys I was with were in the same area last week that we were at today and they said it was a completely different river compared to last week. So it is still continuing to change as well.

Yes river is almost clear now. Level has dropped but still higher than before the rain but that will stay like that for a while yet. I'd say by the weekend it will be ok. One problem - the cruiser is not ready yet.
