After seeing it in action on the weekend . It needs to be upgraded from BUS to TRACTOR status.
Went really well for a big ,heavy truck on small tires.

And letting Satalite practice failed hill climbs in it . very brave man 8)

Yeah, must get some action pic's lol

Its quite hard to get it through to people sometimes , people keep lecturing me on how to do a body lift and then telling me that it will alow me to fit 35's and then it will go much better off road etc etc etc.

If i wanted a club truck on 35's i would have kept my SWB Safari

The idea behind the 80 Series has been to try and find a better compromise between on road and off road use. By running the 33's and a non competition orientated mud tyre i have kept my on road handeling, performace and accelleration with a minimal increase in fuel consumption. This has also allowed me to avoid a body lift, leaving my fan shrowed intact and keeping my COG low for better road road manners.

After the first real off road experience in it at the weekend, i think i have achieved what i set out to. It handles everything with ease, but as you would expect, suffers slightly with diff clearence. The aproach, departure and ramp over angles are satisfactory so it doesn't need to be lifted any further.

I have forgotten how to drive with out a difflock it seems, but thats been next on the list for a while now.

I was totally stoked with the way it went, i doubt it will ever see terrain that hard again ;)

Well set up truck DB, If I was clever like you I would put 33s on mine and go down to a 2" lift. Handle better, go better, use less fuel. I already had the 35s tho, and made them fit. Doh !!

That is one sweet 80 series. I've got one the same colour, just stock height though.

Where did you get your spring spacers from?

Thanks

Ahh, just spent the past 3 weeks at the family bach in the Bay Of Islands, plenty of good weather up there for it!!

Whats the problem with the dropboxes, ground clearance? Mines manual so I have to modify the boxes because of the different gearbox crossmembers.

pete had the drop boxes in his when he first lifted it and they snagged on just about everything so they got taken off and castor correction bushes fitted, his drives nice on the road and performs well off so its a primo set up really.

B.O.I is a fantastic place eh, love the fishing up there..... must get up there when i finish building my truck and show my kayak some nice blue water
