mates 500hp turbo honda runs 3.5" xhaust, runs a 10sec 1/4
mates 300hp turbo honda runs 3" xhaust
and my std 2lte runs a std xhaust and goes fine.
it would be ridiculous to run anything over 2.5" IF for some reason you needed an aftermarket exhaust on a filthy 2lt!

only mod id possibly make to the exhaust is lift it up closer to the body awee bit. just hangs abit low std and gets abit close to ill placed rocks

F@#% Pit stop quoted me to day on how much it would cost to put a 2.5'' right thru the truck. he said around 1k to 1.5!!!, I'm sitting there thinking omfg omfg this guy is a F***ing rip off!, And hes saying somthing that i need atleast Two of thoes things that alow the exhaust to move! other wise it will snapp!, And that i need more then one muffler omg , Then He asked me how much i had to spend and i said i was thinking some where arround the 600 mark. And he said that will get you to the end of the t bars, omg this guy is a rip oFF, But of coures i kept my mouth shut and carry'd on talking to him,

Then asoon as i hopped back in my truck i was telling my mum, She didn't like the sound of 1k to get a 2 or 3 meter long peice of pipe put in the truck lol,

Anyone know where i can get a exhaust made for less than 1k?, Or where i can get the exhaust tubing from, Thanks

from my way of understanding it is simple, 300hp+ 3inch or larger, 200 hp+ 2 inch to 2 1/2 inch exhaust, anything else, spend the money on tyres, you will go further with good tyres than you will with the extra 3hp

Just my 2c, if the head is original then it's probably doomed. I'd save your pennies for the day it does die so you can get in quick and get a new head sorted. A new head will probably be an improved design and much less likely to suffer the same fate.

A good quality exhaust is going to cost you money - there is no way around it. Either save your money (if you are hell bent on getting a big bore exhaust) or listen to what others are saying and deal with the heat IF and WHEN it becomes an issue (if at all). Just my 3.5 cents.

I refuse to vote on the poll, coz the logical choice is not even on there.

As most folks have said, you really only need a 2.5" single system with 1 or 2 mufflers(depending on the law)

as for the pit stop quote................

go buy a whole bunch of exhaust bends from Repco and some pipe and start cutting and welding dude, or give Klem a ring at Performance Mechanical and Engineering in Taupo.

Can you modify your poll?

I'd be adding a 6 inch 2kg baked bean tin with the ends cut out to the end of your exhaust.

That way you get 4 benefits, I am sure there are more

Baked beans for lunch for days
Comes ready polished for that fully phat look
The Fart power you will have will complement the 2LT nicely - maybe run a snorkel into the cab to capture it?
Free mod!

i wouldn't of thought the snorkel was necessary if he was eating beans for lunch every day, coz the smell his ass would be generating would be plenty..........

make sure you give the new exhaust mod an upturn so its in keeping with the youth of today and drop one of the screws that hold your number plate on, so it sits all crooked

whats in your current system? it is an option to just cut out your mufflers and cat and replace them with straight through pipe? I think the factory size would be sweet if you want to free it up cheaply just mod your current system and it should be fine.

fark man thats heaps I can get you a 5m gte and bell houseing for $400 and then all you need to do is wire it up , its dead simple even you could do it

and why the hell are you wanting to do a 3 inch its a waste of time and money. put the 2.5 inch on the 2lt but dont go any bigger . I've just pulled my one off and went back to a standard 5m exsaust so it could get the right back pressure

cheers chopper
