well.. after much deliberating and forethought, have decided to take the padding off the cage.. why you say? watch this space..

also threw some paint around, finished the wiring and tidied a couple of under and on dash bits.. mounted a 1kg fire extinguisher under passengers side of the dash..

The black dash components look cool, i think you need another fire extinguisher in the engine bay just incase wiring shorts out.

Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

well well... my front arb locker was locked on full time as the internal piston was broken.. feckin thing.. had some help takin front diff apart to look into the front locker issue...
Image

after much contact with the local rep's, a good bastard from arb in the north island (wont name as may get person in trouble) was able to help out with new piston and associated parts for way cheaper than quoted elsewhere.. serious thanks man..
Image

with help from kbjj, cheers fella, was able to refit the new parts and put the front diff back together.. little helper was still helpin...
Image

locker in, tested, and works. bit of mod to the wiring at the switching end and can now use the front locker independantly of the rear.. woot..

somemore diff armour.. this one for the rear..
Image

some silicon bends cos the last rubbery ones were craptastic and wasnt confident in there durability..
Image

also put a new wheel in..
Image

made the clamp for the big fire extinguisher.. hinge and a latch that i can put a pin through to prevent accidental 'unlatching'..
Image

put some squirters on to get some of the liquid on the windscreen when theres more shit than glass..
Image

made some c-channel style brackets that bolt onto the rear bar through some crush sleeved bolting mounts.. put a solid bar across the rear of pillars to protect radiator in a roll, enable radiator still to be removed and provide a latch point for spare tyre carrier.. bent a hoop up and also modified a tyre mount, latch and rubber bumper bush thingy off a fawty.. still goin to make a lockin pin for latch mechanism..

bar and latch..
Image

carrier in locked position..
Image

and down, doubles as a ladder to get up to the gear in back..

Bro I'd love too build another one. And plan to do so. But....... young family, morgage and very little spare time make it hard. I've got an old 60 series as a daily driver which is a rusty mission every wof and is getting to the point of being easier to chop up than fix every 6 mths!!! However at the moment it is a very good truck to have on the road. I've got the Narvara to play in tho if needed.

I'll be back bro its just a matter of time.

Nice work dude 8) Loving the bottom mount for the jack.

Its amazing how much time is needed to finish off all the little things, often stuff that photos wouldn't demonstrate how much effort goes into it.

Truck is really coming togeather nicely :!:
