I have had a bit of a rethink about this project and am seriously considering paying someone to fit the engine and transmission and get it certed. Yes i know it is a big call. I rang the guy who owns Mercworxs just out of Tirau the other day for a rough idea of price and he told me $6k which isn't that much more than i think it will cost me to do. If i do it i need a handy workspace and time neither of which i have at the moment so thinking paying someone who has done the conversion before will get it on the road much sooner so could actually join a club and start to use and enjoy it, it has been parked in Yoricks shed for way too long.
any thoughts

So i bought a donor vehicle from Kapiti coast and have transported that to lower hutt and listed it on trade me as wrecking. took it for a drive to check out how well the car ran if there were any obvious issues etc. All the warning lights that were on when i collected the car are no longer there the engine has plenty of pull from low down this engine and trans is going to be a great swap.
just gotta ring a certifier and make things happen now

I thought I had posted pics earlier but obviously not
The donor vehicle at pickup
and in the garage awaiting engine removal
engine removal
engine and trans in the corner awaiting the swap
I now have to remove all the electrical stuff i need from the donor vehicle and then i can actually do something about getting this thing back on the road
