Ok guys, this trip is on for next weekend. If it is raining then we will have another property to got to for this trip.
Marty and myself will decided on the Friday if there will be a change.

Some of the areas we are going into will be too slippery if it is wet. There are some very steep tracks that are rock and loose gravel and rain will make them too dangerous to drive safely.

How would the trip be for bring aling a 2 year old child? I have my wife interested in a 4x4 trip for the first time and keen to bring along our wee one. We would look to camp overnight of the weather was good enough - otherwse day trip only.

cheers

The meeting point is down by the Kyber pass at the bottom of the coast road marked with the red arrow and I've marked the proposed route onto the map with red dots

For the day trippers, is there the option of leaving via Wainui or does it have to be via Ocean Beach?

With the part down the river, and the recent rain, is a snorkel going to be a necessity.

I would like to be a day tripper if that is still an option

Though, what are the plans for the Sunday

Snokel's will not be required as this is a shiny trip and is weather dependent. If there is rain alot of the tracks will be to dangerous to drive, in which case we will divert to doing the ocean beach run and back again.

Sunday will be a drive down the coast for those overnighting at the Hut if they want

If it is wet then the trip will be cancelled, there may be a drive to ocean beach but no alterntive trip will be availible now.

The Orongorongo Stn have offered 13-14 March as an alternative if the weather turns to shit but I think thats the weekend we're heading over to Williams at Carterton so someone might as well book rallywoods or the Beer Bach or something so we've got somewhere to go and consume the contents of our chillybins for the night.... would hate to see good beer go to waste?
