if you intend to keep showcasing the 4wd sport side of nz, then do vehicle reviews on the kinds of wagons competitors will be interested in

ie; tow wagons likes all new double cabs etc etc

plus all the similar content that we are used to already from the previous incarnation

That works a treat. What's the next event that would require towing a race truck too? We have a new double cab to test and this would work in well. Or we could just tow a jetboat?

It looks pretty good for getting a few extra pages into the new format. But we'll need more comp and do it yourself type articles to fill in the gaps.

I feel like we're making some headway. Should have done this ages ago!

A lot of mags have a 'readers rides' type section with a paragraph about mods etc which subscribers write in with. Have maybe 4 on a single page near the front per issue. Any standouts whether they be a quality build or just something different then can get turned into feature build type articles. The do-it-yourself type articles I find the most interesting but they would probably be the hardest to source. Could raid the forum for cool builds etc and ask the owners if they want to have something in the mag maybe to help with that sort of article??

That sounds like a good way too. I like the idea of packing in a fair bit per page and then doing in depth on the stand out ones.

I'll work out an email address for further contacts about mag input.

Have a great weekend guys and gals.

Good idea - don't forget the older tow wagons that are used alot, maybe have a test loop and put they same vehicle on the back each time to get a feel for how one tows, I know an auto 80 series is a totally different beast to a manual 80 series for towing.

I feel like we're making some headway. Should have done this ages ago!

Question :
This jungle / George gent, tell me something, what business is it of yours with this magazine fiasco, your not a listed shareholder or a listed director (but the the pseudo GM isn't either).

One would not dare to assume you are a business media adviser, so maybe you are a secret investor trying to look after your interests.

Why all the suggestive royal "we" input to something that basically has nothing to do with you at all,

Look forward to your straight up honest non political reply,

.... ps. while I am still here, and you really do have some influence, don't let the "poster boy" lose his day job, he obviously knows very little about commercial layout, or maybe he did the "spell check".

I take your point, but please do not jump to conclusions.

I do not need to know who the gentleman is and did not ask that, I was asking HIM what his connection was to the magazine being discussed, and his involvement in it.

Your quote re page 30 or whatever it was bears no relevance to my question, the previous involvement by those quoted in that reference have no involvement in the magazine being discussed here which is owned by one person only with no shareholders.

The reason I asked this is that it is misleading to infer you are to change things when in fact it has nothing to do with you.

George is not the editor, not the advertising manager, not a director, not a shareholder, not the owner, with no interest apart from liking the idea maybe that a similar coverage mag. he was perhaps partially responsible for is no longer.

There is nothing to stop you or I portraying an image and making out the same thing, with no direct responsibility to the magazine, do we have the right to make it look as if "we" have some power which may come across as if we do.

Not in my book,

Hello zl2cq.

Didn't you have a niggle earlier on and then decided that you would pull the plug on this forum because it wasn't the place for it. Now you think it is the place for it. Very confusing!

You don't mind me asking who you are? Or why you need to know any of this? But I'll entertain you further!

When we formed the company MTL two years ago our primary goal was to get 4x4action magazine back on it's feet and hopefully make it a profitable business that Bobbie could then take back and run as her own. Due to matters outside of our control the magazine had to be sold, also to our disappointment. I'm referring to myself and my partner as joint shareholders of MTL.

We now have no financial connections with the magazine as I have mentioned earlier. I do however believe that the magazine is a great publication and I will continue to contribute to it as I have in the past. I am also a close personal friend of the editor and although I'm not in a paid position or have a financial interest, my input to the magazine is valued. I hope.

Those that know me will hopefully agree!

I hope I've cleared things up for you? Please send me an email if you need further details. president@geyserland4wd.co.nz

Cheers
George

Gee you make me laugh Mr Galvin.

Not only are you not a member of the Geyserland club. If you were, you would have known that we have had our AGM and yes I am president of the club. Do you think I would give out an email address that went to Aaron instead of me.

Please do your homework next time!!!

george I asked a civil question Im sorry that you have taken it upon yourself to see it differently I gained the information from the club directory in the last publication of "your" magazine. If this is how you take to selling the 4x4 action mag then I suggest you keep your insults to a PM or in person. For what its worth I have brought all the mags form day one and have enjoyed reading them to the extent of sending them to 4wd freinds overseas. But with your attiude its time to rethink
If ?? your answer is the president ship changed hands after the magazine was printed then say so rather than try to insult others I dont consider which club I belong to has any bearing on this subject.

This should make the readers happy. The mag is going to run a few extra pages in the next issue. The plan is for 80 pages!!!! Thats huge!!! And you know that means more comp stuff!!!

Hopefully with plenty of input from you guys and gals, the mag can keep printing 80 pages every month.

Apologies for those that haven't received their mag in the post. Please send your queries to john@4x4action.co.nz or (021) 722125.

Cheers
George

p.s. Great to see you haven't changed in all these years DJ.

"Now you think it is the place for it."

George, thanks for the reply, yes it is confusing, I tried to remove myself off the reflector only to find I am thicker than I thought and could not find the unsubscibe department, thats why.

"You don't mind me asking who you are?"
You had the opportunity of knowing who I was or am as the case may be, you walked past me 4 times on Easter Sunday, if you want my current ID, look it up on Google, I have nothing to hide.

I must compliment you George on your need to almost demand little pats on the back from everyone, good safe way of controlling your subject.
I also notice you are very quick to put people down, even tho' some of them were mates.
As far as "building" up a business and "handing it back" to the original owner - what a nice thought.
Paying for it probably would have been a nicer gesture.

I wouldn't worry too much about me George,
if you want - you will always get back as good as you give, if not I am sure you will tell us, and I mean that in good spirit !

Cheers

wtf does that all mean? If you have a personal issue with someone pm them, this forum is already full of guys whos knickers get all twisted up at the smallest things, it does nothing for the forum nor is it any good for 4wding in general. The sport as a rule is full of people who have either some form of power hungry political agenda or are hell bent on personally attacking others for no apparent reason.
This thread is a simple informative gesture to announce the revival of nz's best 4x4 mag so if ya havent got any thing positive to add please keep it out of this page!

I know who you are Mr Manley! From your style of writing I get a pretty good feeling about what sort of person you are too.

I can't imagine it would do me any good to continue discussing this matter on this forum and as I said earlier, please make contact with me.
If you feel the need to rubbish me further, then I think in person may be the best option.
