Well, I'm in... although I collapsed a spring on the MU *AGAIN* in the weekend so I've gotta run the rear packs through a small modification program before the event :)

Also need to fit some hooks to it... that should be fun since the crossmember in the front covers all the possible mounting holes, and the side mounting holes got ground off to clear the tyres

Also going to make a snorkle - After Riks little weekend mishap, which is going to cost me my nice new engine :!: I'm not going to risk that one any longer :)

And I need to weld a diff up... no point running open diffs if I've gotta compete with the *BIG* big boys...

And I need to take the carpets out... they are getting smelly from the dunking last weekend, and washing the mud out will be easier without them :)

Sooo... a few things to organise, but the forms in the post, the helmets dusted off, and I'm off to the supermarket to get some sausages for the event :) Anyone got a bbq they can bring?

never entered this event before but i am this year. i need to get some 33's though!! If i can't get smaller tyres i'm running with the big boys!! Thank god they relaxed the rollcage rule. i hadn't noticed it on the entry and would have been majorly pissed if i had rocked up on the day fully amped and rearing to go and be told that i couldn't, so a big thanks to all who helped sort that issue out. Looking forward to putting faces to names on this forum.

Hope Nibliks' still keen to co drive........

hosehustler wrote:Hi all,
had a word to one of my colleagues who has spoken to the organiser about a couple of things,
firstly, I competed in the last event as co-driver in a vehicle in the open class in a V8 fire engine powered 39inch tyred buggy (finished a respectable 3rd) what bothers me about entering in the open class in my own truck, is that there are some stages both classes do but some are tailored open class trailer vehicles which are fairly severe for thos of us expecting to be able to drive our vehicles home that night :o
The modified class is a better alternative for road legal vehicles :D
Have been toldthis morning;
if it has doors and a tailgate and 33inch tyres it can go in mod class even with twin diff locks, so i'm thinking about putting Dads Simex's on for the day (32's) and having a ball :P........ and being able to drive home :P

Iv'e made my mind up I'm staying on the 35's with both lokka's in and going in the open class even if I come last that's what I'm doing, oh and Adam

I've NEVER done this event before and because of the 35" tires i'm stuck in the open class to!! So the mighty 3B will be working hard. I think, with all due respect Hosehustler, if anyone is going to come last it should be me...

I've never done it either, and with all due respect, I'm planning to either do respectably well, or DNF in style - still have a couple of undented areas on the old girl :D

So If Rik is there with the vid cam (oh Rik, did I mention you were my copilot? :P) then things will go wrong, as they always seem to do when he's videoing me

The rules are that everyone would laugh at you and you would be sent home :P

I think you will find that chains would be unnaceptable, since you aren't even allowed ag tyres... against the spirit of the event too, I would think.

Sheffield mudplug postponed for a bit....

However, this may mean I'll have the hilux ready for it..... :D
I've watched once before, there's a few narley bits, but otherwise a bit of brute force and ignorance should see me thru!!
Apparently they cant even get a 4wd tractor in there at the mo!!

Hey guys
So what is the date of this event now?
I seem to recall the 29th of this month but looking up this thread I cant see any change of date mentioned at all.

Can anyone help?

Cheers IJ

so whats the go is it just a staight bog run?or got someother challenges aswell?

it's pretty cool, I wouldn't put it at the level you see on TV, hardcore trialling stuff, but some interesting holes. Last time I was there it was more aimed at having a go, some mildly modified trucks were doing quite well, but there's also some harder bits for the "big boys".

It can be very swampy and wet, and with the current weather situation I imagine it will be such!

I have a mate who's a local, I'll ask him to go do a little "recon". :D
