No don't bother, I have to go to work now and I think the BREAK sounded worse than it will be, Dr Rick should be able to have Pete back in action in time for Sheffield.

Sounds more to me like it's the buggy receiving surgery not Pete :P

Yeah that was FARK'N close alright!!
But all is well. It's back on the trailer.

That asian dude worked like a machine! I was getting a sweat up in the drivers seat just watching him!

Got to the top in 20mins.

Took 3 or 4 times longer to get back down though.

Could someone please spill the whole story!!!

But also, JEEZ look at the depth of those ruts! Kinda glad we didn't make it any further up the track on Sunday if that's what's waiting further up!

yeah you got to the top in 20mins, took Fitzy and I quite a bit longer than that,
I just washed a fair old chunk of Worselys Rd off on my drive, (shit i hate mud   ).
She is quite a machine Pete, Winch works well considering how far up in the air we attached it for rescue. You know who to call for replacing the broken bits, When the buggy is out of the hospital, I reckon she will take some stopping.
Did Fitzy and I over embellish this mornings events a wee bit?

Oh and go the Nibster, you are a digging machine

I'm sure once nibs gets online he'll share his position on the wee jaunt today.

Once we reached the top and chilled taking in the view. 15-20mins later we saw who we thought was Fitzy n Rok walking up. Nibs and I looked at each other and said, "fark they weren't mucking round, they're up already!" But once they got closer we could see it was 3 older ladies . When they reached us they said we heard you on the way up, looks like fun boys. They were cool. Then we asked, "Did you see two fellas on your way up??". They said, "yes, we pasted them half way up the hill".    20mins later they reached us.

Thanks again for the support guys. Huge learning curve for me. But I'm enjoying every minute of it!!!

We were taking in the views as well

On a more serious note though, there have been some clowns up there who have no idea and obviously rigs that can't handle the road and they have dropped some fencing to get around. The land either side of the road is private property, if you can't drive the track, then go home. This is the sort of stuff that gets us all tainted in the eyes of the public.
Fitzy and I were thinking of having a working party up there in the summer to repair some of the fences, (pull wires through, bang on some strainers on and staple back as required. This will give us some positive press and that can't be a bad thing. If we can get someone to supply the bits we need, we will be looking on here for some working hands, I'm sure that won't be a problem eh?

Sounds like a good idea rok!

A friend of my sisters by coincidence owns the neighboring property as you head up the Worsley track. He owns about 900 acres there and knows the people on the other side of the track well.
Just chatting to him on Facebook now. Letting him know about your idea Rok.
He's stoked you want to organize something. His name is Dean Graham. He's a good bastard.
He saw me cleaning down my buggy this avo and stopped for a chat.
So I'm happy to be the middle man here.

That fence line did look pretty munted in places mate. They do get farked off at us chaps and do tar us with the same brush.
This will go along way to keep us using the track. Even though it's public property.

I noticed the same things when i was up there last also i noticed people have been going into the forest on the left on the way up and digging that up also, so i think your idea is very good and would be more than happy to help out.
We need "mylux" to read this thread he"d be the man to sort us out what we need to fix the fences.

I'd be happy to help, there are chunks of the remains of the old fence dragged all through that start section. I had a few times the truck dug it up out of the mud and wrapped it round and round the hub, was a prick to get off.

Can't help with gears but happy to lend a pair of hands, I agree as much positive P.R. for ORE the better, we are always likely to be seen as the hoons that don't belong in any of the clubs.
I'd need a lift up in a truck that can actually make it more than 150m up the track though. :D

I'd say once it does dry out, Dean won't mind us accessing the fence line from his property so most trucks will be able to get to the work area easily.

i'm keen to help out with repairs and do a shakedown run too..

as for todays events.. was a great wee outing..

first off, into the buggy and away we go.. fiddles on the front and a locked rear was oober fun to play with.. made quick work on the way up.. only issue on 2 occasions was diff clearance, but when ya chuckin those horses through the driveline, 60 series diffs are a good thing.. silverstones clear well too huh pete?

at the top, a quick taking in of the view on a perfect day and then start her up to head back down.. fitzy and rok pointed more 'interesting routes' for us to venture down and they surely were..

on one particular jaunt, as described earlier, a little 'pop' was heard from the front and that was the end of fiddles.. cv goneski.. good boy too pete headin longs way..

hence the rest of the trip was tricky.. one sideling was super slippery and normally i wouldnt be complaining, but with no front drive keepin the front pointin in the right direction, she soon followed the shortest (and steepest) route to flatter ground.. (read : rut!) so that was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

bestest buddy...
Image

a bit of winching, digging and team work and the toy was parked back on the trailer...

pete should have some vids i think...

awesome day out, thanks pete.. cheers rok and fitz too, good help and always great to see you..

well.......

not you rok... Image

I note Pete's post further on. This has been offered before by the clubs of CHCH, but we were never taken up on it. Good that Pete knows a guy up there, we may be able to get more traction this time. I think it was the guy on the other side that didn't want our assistance. Happy to help as well, done quitye a bit of fencing back home in Oz.

I'm keen as to.
Though the idea has been thrown round before. Is good Rok brought it up again. Walking up and down it yesterday would of given him and Fitzi a good gander at the state of things.

I was to busy trying not to get stuck.
Wow. First time driving the buggy off road. What a drive!!
nibs working those fiddles n telling me where the left front was. Couldn't have made it up there without him.
