I think location should be compolsory when you register.
I also reakon that new members should have a probation period in which they can post in a seperate noob section till they get the keyboard hero shit out of their system (or simply leave) but can only read the main section until they prove they are worthy to be part of our community.

Respect is not quantified by post count.

right there is the best idea, say 50 or 100 posts before they can post in the general section

As many others have said, please keep it going and clean it up. Like others have here, I've been around since the start & seen some excellent tech & some complete drivel. I guess the best model to try & copy is Pirate where the rubbish is not tolerated in tech and quickly dealt to by the army of moderators, whether by moving or banning etc.
As always I'm happy to help mod in any way I can but only on a subject I have any helpful info on, like how to keep a project going for 8yrs........
If at first you don't succeed .... Get a bigger hammer!!

Keep it!!!
Heaps of good info here, would be a shame to bin it. I'll take abuse from the minority to keep getting the good advise and help from the majority. 95% on here are good buggers with excellent (sometimes differing) oppinions.

Thank you everyone for voting and leaving suggestions. Pretty obvious what the community wants. Thanks for the offers of moderation, probably way more than we need but thanks anyway. Will talk to reece and finalise the list of moderators hopefully this weekend and write some instructions up on what to do.

I'll start looking at the suggestions and see whats able to be implimented and whats not.

Only one thumbs down and that was from a LR twit so thats understandable. If anyone wants to leave a burning bag of dog shit on his door, ring the buzzer and run off, be my guest

Faaaark it

Better poo on my doorstep too

Close it down. Its not fun anymore. I enjoyed seeing youthful twats with no grasp of the engrish trying to be keyboard heros.
Reminds of days gone by when I got the site shut down.

Keep. This place is invaluable for those with a new truck as they learn the ins and outs of it...

I might even get myself to shell out for a fee. I was paid up in my previous incarnation..

Keep, this site and its core members are a great resource of knowledge and skill and it would be a waste to just let it go.

Keep.. like most on this thread.. I find it hilarious reading after a long day and my god there are some talented buggers with a " think outside the square " attitude along with some real experience to problem solving.. Thats what keeps me coming here to read up on stuff and post up stuff Im doing so other people can be inspired or learn.
I too could help but Im sure there are plenty of other candidates before me..
cheers

Far too much good information on here to let a couple of trolls ruin it for those that want to learn, share and contribute.

Keep it.

But I do like some of the funny stuff and BS. However there is a fine line that gets crossed.
O
May be Teck and BS needs some kind of separation on the site. I really don't think we could get rid of it and it would be better to just control it. I know most of us use the "view new post" button but that shows every topic from teck to Bs.

And I think non supporters should not have as much access may be no access to trips.

Maybe More trip reports. To Encourage 4wd related reading.

Any way i love using it as it is local. Entertaining sometimes funny and of cause has the wealth Of knowledge.

Again Keep it.

Definitely keep ORE up and running

I pretty much agree with everything already said (save the thumbs down)
the site is awesome to look through for tips and tricks, and generally a good read, even with the trolls

But a report bad post button, or more moderators would make it much easier on those few folk already trying to keep things tidy

A few people have mentioned this. In the bottom right of every post there is a report post button. It is a small exclamation mark button, located slightly above the 'QUOTE' button.
