Or a callums steak n cheese lol
Yeah its a franchise setup so you have to use your local dealer lucky there's more than one now.
Would be bit of a giveaway if I brought from autokraft then asked them to ship it to auckland.
I'm not one to moan just putting it out there so people know whats up which is what forums are for...

Thats surprising, ive brought plenty of stuff off them and not once have they said to use the local dealer, best part about dealing with them direct is there is no waiting for a price or availabilty or as you have found out a return phone call that never comes...........

Re: hdj81 cruiser build
Finally got a free Sunday so started on the rear diff
Not to confident doing c&p gears and setting up backlash so getting mechanic with experience doing diffs to sort that out for me.
Also decided while got the front diff stripped may aswell do locker.
So bar axles and CVS diffs are basically all brand new
should go alright off road/on road with selectable f&r lockers and 5.29 diff gear
Starting to get withdrawal not getting my offroad fix been going with mates in there trucks but not same as driving your own.
Another picture less update so here's some pics of the old petty bus was awesome truck just cost to much to run and bit slugy on road but never let me down and always got me home after beating on it.
Took it hardcore 4wheeling 7 weekends in a row and all I had to do is put gas in it
All my mates rock patrol/safari so they used to give me shit until they realized I was the only one not working on my truck ever week haha

Re: hdj81 cruiser build
I trust those superflex arms are cert'd for on road use? As I was looking at some and lvvta said there are none on the road in their database.. Notice you have some or on ya mates truck..

Re: hdj81 cruiser build
There advertised by nz supply to be certifiable and i have the paper work?
My white 80 had caster correction plates at first then put these on later, made truck drive heaps better.
Havnt got that far with cert yet but why would they fail it when it actually gets caster better than shitty caster correction bushes?and the use bushes that are centered?and d are stronger than stock radius arms?
If it becomes a issue with cert i'l just chuck the standard radius arms back in with caster plates

they wont fail it but they will need to be sent to lvvta for inspection and or xray as they have none on their database.. I spoke to Peter Watson and he is on the board and was in welliwood at the time I asked so he and a few of his cronies looked them up, I got Warren to email me the spec and data sheets so they could make an informed decision.. They might meet the Auz rules for MOT but not here.. Why im asking as I would have gone down that road if I could prove someone has had them cert'd.. DO keep us informed when you do go down that road as Im sure many people would love to have the info once done..As ill be following this.. wish you luck

Re: hdj81 cruiser build
So I will have to pay to have them xrayed?
Suppliers should have to do this wouldn't they if they advertise them as certifiable product?
If I have to pay to get them xrayed will be charging a royalty fee haha

Re: hdj81 cruiser build
My understanding is.......
If they're forged they will pass cert without getting crack tested.
If they're cast they need crack testing.
If they're cut out of solid plate they don't need testing.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong

Re: hdj81 cruiser build
There cut out of a solid plate so billet?
That's the problem with lvvta cert cronies they all got different opinions on the rules...
So it's all written in black and white then depending on who you use it becomes a grey area.
Similar thing in the building industry depending on which building inspector you get they all interpret the rules different.I make a stand with them now and stick to what I been shown with courses I have to do to be registered cause at the end of the day I'm responsible and supply a producer statement so its my arse on the line.

Re: hdj81 cruiser build
If it's written in the hobby car manual then there is no argument. Can you get your hands on a copy? It's really a must have

Re: hdj81 cruiser build
No havnt friend of a friend has one so I did have a look at rules around exo but not radius arms because didn't think there would be a issue

Re: hdj81 cruiser build
Looks like a factory fit

Re: hdj81 cruiser build
Had Sunday free so put on my sparky hat
Wired up the compressor and switches also brought matching arb style switches for my light bars and rear lights
Then ran all the air lines to diffs
Because i latered on the factory 2 din stereo and fitted single din it gave me good place to mount 6 switches percectly
Next Mish 2 new cvs

Diffs all back together so took for drive last night
Have to run in new gears then do oil change so no off roading yet
It drive heaps better now doesn't bog down on take off anymore and holds top gear on the hills
Bead in brakes and there working all good now pulls the 80 to a stop pretty good
Speedo pretty much bang on too
Gave it all a degreaser and steam clean underneath so pretty much ready to go see Mr cert man

Re: hdj81 cruiser build
Took for a drive on motorway today my speedo is actually out a bit when doing 100 it's reading bout 115kms
Have to look at sorting this otherwise paying to much road user
Front diff started making faint whine when coasting randomly so have to pull that apart again check everything over.
Been eyeing up subdivision under construction next to where I've been working.
There some nice ruts and hills there so went for a sly play test lockers out.80 walked through everything easy with just rear locked it was dry hard packed dirt thou.Treps hook up and bagged well even at high pressure .

Re: hdj81 cruiser build
Anyone know how I can get my speedo bit more accurate??
It's electronic speedo with sensor on back of trans
Before I changed ratio at 100km speedo reading was round 90km
Now at 100km speedo reading is tad over 110km
Cheers

Re: hdj81 cruiser build
These guys sell ratio units that fit between the gearbox and speedo unit. Around $200 each and they have a wide variety of ratios.
