So what you're saying is, that Mro and marty decided to play a trick on everyone, into beleiving that mroffroader traded his disco for a safari.

Or maybe he really did, but marty wanted his safari back because he decided that it was a crap deal. Marty has been known to play pranks on people over the internet tho

Don't worry, I'm sure the next time I'm up there you'll have ample opportunity to test the strength of those axles when you have to tow my old hippo out of the mud

I swapped the Rangie for a Lada!! It comes with a pre-broken front diff and a rear window heater to keep my hands warm when I push it.

:P :P

The only reason you'd do that is if the window heater in the Rangie wasn't working. Gotto hate cold hands

Aye, don't start on the Lada's.
One hell of a Lada fanatic here. Had one for twelve years. Brilliant truck. Repowered it with a 2ltr Fiat Twin Cam. Had enough grunt to outrun any jap v6 or turbo diesel up the Wainui Hill or Ngauranga Gorge. Awesome amount of fun. Never ever broke anything in the driveline while off-roading. And by driving it like a bat out of hell it would tackle most obstacles.
Hardest part of owning a Lada is putting up with the constant barrage of supposedly funny jokes. Funny the first time, less so the second, a downright pain in the ass after 10 years.

Everyone has had the piss taken out of the type of wagon the drive, if you drive a Lada, you might be the target of more of this (although there has been SFA Lada bashing on here from what I've seen)

My old man worked for a company that converted a bunch of Niva's into cab chassis ute's for the Dairy board a number of years ago.

They put a half chassis under them and pressed a new panel for the rear of the cab.

They were very strong and reliable vehicles. Think they were rated to 3/4 ton.

SO you are saying a Lada is better than your truck, Jerry?
:P
From my experience they break more often than not. But when they are going they can be quite OK.

For example: http://www.feilding4x4.netfirms.com/lada.html

Sorry guys!! Ooopss...yes i forgot about Lada owners!!

But..see above: "put a half chassis on..." "repowered with a fiat..."

We did have a dyed in the wool Lada owner in our Feilding club for ages, but everytime we went somewhere it broke. he has a Pajero now.

And as for all those old lada jokes...yes they have been around for as long as there have been ladas, now, why might that be?????

And yes, lots of trucks are dissed here and in other places, its all fun, so don't be too sensitive!!

Nuff..said...

We all like our own vehicles other wise we would not have one! Mind you, I have seen bobtailed rangies and they look suspiciously like a big lada. but go much 'betterer'.
