Your quote I believe, aimed at those who whinge at not wanting a rated towhook etc to enter...

WTF, Im not sure i read this right, but are you implying I dont like rated towhooks??!! Hopefully I got this wrong......

Have you been drinking used diff oil again  ...I read this as you were complaining that the anti club brigade would not like it, I was suggesting that there are rules and if they don't like it its thier problem and they can stay at home and mow the lawn instead....

7 pages of absolute BOLLOCKS

Have we figured out who has the biggest weewee yet????

So this comp thingy. Tha would be a good time to prove it in real life huh??

Thats the idea of a comp right??

To prove who has the biggest and best *cough* truck

The fun is trying to prove that right??

:?: With me so far :?:

So we have some classes. Just to make the competition fair on those whos trucks are only good for posing with no mufflers crossed up in a ditch playingwith the load pedal

So how F##kin hard is it to make some simple classes huh?? Why not use a system that works. Hell, you think other combinations of classes haven' been tried before??

If the idea is FUN, then why does the class your in matter so much??

Hell, i'd take satisfaction away from the comp if i got my stock vitara 10mm further into a bog than Madaz's angry mud spitting monster (unless its still busy posing crossed up in a ditch ), but we wouldn't be in the same class. So who cares.

We have a rough class system, like the Laurie Sanson system, which separates the REALLY stock vehicles out, and also separates the REALLY REALLY modified vehicles out,and lumps the Joe Blogs Hilux with 33's, twin lockers and a supra transplant in the same class as a basically standard Safari with a sus and body lift running 35's including the odd bush cruiser running god knows but seems to make the right kinda noise all togther.

That kinda system makes for a good fun mates against mates comp, with a run what you brung vibe, and gives the stockies a chance to watch and learn and get in and drive with out trying to take their trucks somewhere stupid and doing damage.

My point is the classes don't matter that much, as De-Ranged pointed out, it will be mates against mates at the end of the day. The class idea is really just to give the stockies a chance to play amongst themselves.

Yeeeeha, I's on a role wid the typing 8)

Well isn't competition great :!: :?: :!: :?: :!:

No ones even got to a start line yet and already the fur is flying about who's rules are the best etc etc :?:

 KISS guys KISS - stay with the idea and principle. It seems to be a bit like the idea about a Recovery Squad squabble that started. :(

As has been said Fun is Fun or Serious is Serious. It seems some are getting a little TOO serious (or competative)

My 1c worth anyway

(Oh...by the way - looks like the Posting clock hasn't adjusted for daylight saving yet - or its a shit load later than I thought.)

Who cares about classes. The idea would be to have fun, and its not as if you can compare your driving to anyone elses because you are not driving the same vehicle

Ok guys, first post in this thread.

I personally prefer speed sections for some reason, so classes matter f'all cause engines arnt classed. So if the lj50 beats my v8 I'll feel like a twit  but thats competition

Rik pointed out that I designed a circuit on his property which would have a split start ie one competitor would start from halfway and the other would start from the start (the middle is two tracks that go past each other side by side- no chance of hitting). Winner is first over the line (laps? didnt think about) or if they catch the other up (within 10m). It would work at riks property becuase thats just how his property is.

So how would you have classes for something fun like that? I wouldnt, I would probably suggest something simple like the drag races, time handicaps off the start.

So in saying all that why dont we just run a simple points system (which all trials do anyway with distance points markers etc) and just give the more modified trucks have points added on for each locker and tyre class. then you can also chuck in (if terrain dictates) points for engine sizes , 4,6,8 cylinders.

Its keeping it simple, everyone knows where they are at the start of the day, no one takes the wrong course because the marshal got the classes mixed up (happend to me)

If a trial was to be held on some hilly slopes where there are sidlings (which most trials are) then you could add points to standard trucks and lowered trucks to give those guys with their raised river trucks who are likely to tip over more of a chance

At least it would be unique to ORE

So in summery I propose:

A points handicapp system for modifications.
dependant on trial location for what gets handicapped and what not.

Just my 2c

I think warlord is saying meeting at humps at 10am. Maybe a few of us could get there earlier and set up some hazards with pegs or actually maybe doing this the day before would be better if we can sort permission (Warlord or Jerry). So who's in? And who's in to help?

Well, anybody keen....?

come on welly owners lets get this going...i wont have a truck then but will help set up etc if needed....we should show up these jafas and hillbilly south islanders for once!!!!

can i go do skids yet ?

local rules for locals.

jerry you look after your end and pete can look after our end and mike can look after the southern boys....or is it lethfield down there ?....who ever.

so the club champs would be governed by a local body that has insight to the locals in that area and can dictate rules to suit. come the ultimate ORE club champs then where ever that rally is being held those local rules are paramount and get hard, suck it up and do it.if you dont like the rules of that area then dont go there and drive. easy.

ok, back to work now

Ahhh, the sweet sound of common sense. Image

Of course competitor and spectator safety will be managed; of course a non-discriminatory event is in everyones best interest; however, let us not overlook that a podium placement is of no consequence; the superseding objective is, through fun competition, to further celebrate the community that is O.R.E., and enjoy the kinship it affords.Image

I love that idea, now whos got some pegs I can borrow.

and as for the rest of it, personally I think all competeing vehicles should have some sort of ROPS and helmates are manditory, as are seat belts and at least 1 tow hook at each end

Somewhere back amongst that shit it was aked what was the Sheffield Mudplug classes.
Open: greater then 33" tyres and two tracton aids
Modifed: up to 33" tyres and one tracton aid.
If you didn't have a traction aid you where still in the modified.
It was not intended for shineys though as roll over was possible and flooding of the vehicle interior. Personally I like hard challenging shit that would destroy a stock standard shiney.
