I think it took 5 or so hours to get five trucks out (shrek and his mates).
My track turned out to be harder than i thought :shock:

The winching stages were too long and some bush stages too tight for the nissans,next year i'll run the track the other way, which will make it not so hard(still not easy tho :twisted:

).

I must thank Scott publicly for making sure that our group was purpose built for a cruiser fan. In the pic below you can see no less than four 40 series cruisers and a vitara with prado running gear. What you can't see is the 60 series that was with us and my 40 and Scott in his hilux. It was toyota heaven. Go the mighty Toyota brand. :lol:

Well, here it is. Complete with warts and all.

I (we from King Country and Manukau 4wd clubs) had a wonderful weekend as those of us who attended last year also had then. The location was excellent, caters for all.

The allocation of groups based on 'number in the queue' was never going to work as participants were always going to travel with friends irrespective of vehicle number. A simple muster of drivers outside the HQ would have immediately resolved any issues.

I believe the roll over protection requirement (which included hard top vehicles) compromised the fund raising potential of the event as just over half the possible competitors registered. Several people I spoke to would not register because of this limitation. My assessment of the actual event was that such protection was not required for hard top vehicles.

I found that many of the tracks through the trees were technically challenging (especially me with LWB) which was great.

We also found that the long and technically difficult winch sections took about an hour per vehicle to navigate. The only problem I had with this was the wait time for the people behind. We waited for a couple of hours on the Sunday until it became clear that the group ahead of us would take several hours to complete the hazard. The group behind us scarpered as soon as they saw we were in the queue too. Eventually we back tracked too as we would not have completed the section in the available time.

The weather changed everything.

So, in summary: A bloody good weekend. By-passes to other winch sections would be really good.

Can i very tentativley suggest a no-frills, el'chepo, budget option??

IMHO (in my humble opinion) if the entry fee was between $100 and $150, more may enter?? Thats just my opinion, take it at face value, don't get jumpy, i know its a fund raiser, and i know its for a bloody good cause, but i honestly think if the option was given to self cater and camp for a lesser fee, you would get more entrants.

Its high school economics, if sell at a lower profit margin (cheaper), you generally sell a higher quantity than you would with higher profit margin(people like to get stuff cheaper, and the lower price creates a higher demand for the product/service). By selling a higher quanity (more people buy at the cheaper price as its more apealing), you exceed the profit you would have generated through selling at the higher margin as you have created a higher demand for the product/service.

you're dancing with fire DB. read back thru this thread and you'll see that Scott doesn't like it when people try to ask for the cheaper alternative. As its been stated before, its a fundraiser and its still cheaper than most safari style trips.

There is a hall available that people can sleep in, but alot of folks decided to stay in thier own tents anyway. Some even drove back to a motel in vegas for a shower then back for dinner and then back to motel for the night and then back again in the morning (phew).

But we'll take your comments onboard for next time and hopefully others can post some constructive comments too.

except that when the guy in front of you breaks down or gets horribly stuck you have to wait, due the one way system we run on the tracks.

Hi, going to make the track a bit easyier :wink:

,have some hard sections :twisted:

limit to 30 trucks,keep the roll cage rule and maybe do what BrentC suggested. This track is better if people pair up and look after them selves and dont worry about the bloke behind you, if people are stuck or broken down go around(if it is possable)and leave them behind!.
Rere run is a self help run.
