When I went over, at 5:30 yesterday it was as as per my last post.
Haven't been out today but we got Nor'west rain overnight and there
was a cracker thunderstorm out west (anyone see the awesome display
of lightning and lingering thunder rolls?) which always equals heavy
rain in the hills at the head of the river (Lees Valley).

Just spoke to someone who has been over today. Apparently the Waimak
is bank to bank and the Ashley is up and muddy again.

The river flow for Rangiora doesn't reflect it yet tho

It appears all the canterbury rivers are in flood, as I observed this morning on my way to Reefton.

Waimak is or was up into the jetboat launching area, Ashley ws very dirty, Kowhai was coloured and the Waipra was flooding too.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

Yup the waimak is way up and flowing fricken fast. haven't seen the Ashley yet, may shoot out after tea and check it out if I get my A into G. If it's anything like the waimak I'd say you will be postponing/changing the trip plans PR.

Oh and now it's raining out here again :( , and Toni says it will rain for much of the night. But snow down to 400 metres, so maybe a snow trip is on the cards if it settles??

Smart move.

Waimak is higher than it was a couple of weeks ago and Ashley is about the same as then. That took almost two weeks to go down so not wise to take this trip.

But the best reason is it gives me a chance to get my diff sorted :)

(sorry - I was the one that did the rain dance  )
