Hi Tom. Great work on the Safari front bar, did you move that PTO winch back or is still at the factory position?

Cage looks good .not having any b pillar surport how do u think it will handel a good roll.im not critersising your work i think this every time i see exo with no b pillar.
When i had my lux i was going to do an exo and i thought about cutting a hole in roof and runing two smaller tubes mabe 35mm,onedown each b pillar. welded to plate on floor and have a cleat that bolts onto seat belt mount up through roof the fixed to exo .but did not need to as i went over to the darkside and bought a rangerover

That's a tricky one with a d/cab, there simply isn't the room to run an external B pillar tube, well there isn't if you want to use the rear doors anyways

Running an internal B pillar tube wouldn't work unless it went right through the floor and onto the chassis. Cant have it welded to the chassis and the body, things would crack. The gusset in this one will help distribute the load of a roll. The ultimate (which is on the cards I believe) is a bolt in bit of barwork covering the rear doors.

Yup .i understand u cant weld to body and chassis .i thought that the tube be welded to plate on floor to spread the load, hole through roof weld a tube larger than b pillar tube to the roof bar work , and not weld .the tube socket would retain it with the down ward pressure of the roll over.easy as job done .

Mmm maybe, but in a roll there are more forces at play than just vertical down. I spoke to Andy today, what we are going to do is build a removable section over the rear doors, it will bolt to the cage at the top and bottom of the B pillar and at the centre of the C pillar.

I'm not so keen on poking holes in the body, my reasoning is that with the independent movement between the body and the cage it would be tricky to make weather tight.

He doesn't remember, bought it in Kurow. I think I know who it was but need to make some phone calls.

Been working on a 106 Hilux. 4 link front and rear.
Heres the front. Safari Coils with invisible 12" Ranchos (Ranchos turn up Tuesday

)
Top coil clamp

And the bottom

Had to tickle the front guards to clear the Crawlers.
Cut out

Back together

Great work as per usual Tom.
How long are the upper links?
Do you use any of the link calculators when youre planning a build like this?

Thanks
Upper links are 740mm. Lower are 990mm
I did in the beginning, then played round with it a bit. But now just stick to the same geometry in all builds. It works, why change it

Thanks, It moved back 30mm.
Hey Tom,
Whats involved in moving a GQ PTO back? Do you need a new drive shaft machined or can you just trim the stock one down?

Just trim them down. I attack them at the universal joint nearest to the winch. You cant move it back very far and cant really move it up at all, so options are pretty limited

Front coilover mounts. The steering column passes through one of them.
