Janet texted Jafa just after I did it and he reminded me of about 3 banks in the Chasm I haven't driven that he has, not to mention Ayers Rock at Rallywoods so I have alot of catching up to do.
And yes it was my Hilux with the broken CV

I might have to go back to my old Landrover because no one can beat me with that one at the moment.

If you like the sound of a Lexus, here is a bit more.

It was mentioned earlier that it was a matter of luck with the bounce of the wheel. This is not true as Andy's suspension has been stuffed up by a ChCh firm and he is going to fix it.

Here is Andy on the first half of the climb out of the little Totara.
Only Paul delis and myself drove this section.

Hi Jim,

Johnny spent a few days in Nelson before new year but he called around to see us New years eve. Johnny was with Flag on our very first trip through there.

Yes I can drive the track both ways without winching. I think it is more of a confidence thing. Last time through with the Blenheim club I was a bit negitive, thinking what will happen if I don't make it when 100 ft up on the hill.

Actually I will did need to winch. The Manuka on the track is now up to bonnet level and while creeping along feeling my way fell in a washout hole.

Ellen Delis took a vid from the top of the hill which is quite good so when Andi and her call around in a couple of days I may be able to get a copy and post it.

People rave on about the Mudzilla's. At Seddonville on the Charming creek track they were absolutely useless.

Paul said on the last day he wouldn't even come because of the tyres.
Andi Delis and myself on ETs just walked through where the others couldn't even drive .

The 1st truck had BFGs and was useless, I was 2nd on ETs and walked through. Paul on Mudzillas in the video was 3rd and Andi on ETs was 4th and also walked through.

Paul and Andi had similar tyre pressures around 10 lbs

Marc and Steve Crackett both run Swampers and swear by them.

Their trucks are still in the major rebuild stage so didn't come with us this Xmas.

I run swampers and also swear by them, but having said that, Suprasurf absolutely cleaned me up 8 years ago over on the coast on a wet Moa Bones trip and he was running ET's. The comparison was even closer as both trucks were beam axle surf's with 5m supras and if anything I had a little more flex in the front end than he did.
The simexs don't come anywhere near cutting it when asked to hang on to rocks or hard ground though, and even on really peaty soil I could still bag the ole swampers to work slightly better than the ET's.

That's why they say there is no such thing as the perfect tyre for all conditions.

The kind that get's started at 7:30am by that ####### stupid neighbour after I've had a hard night on the turps.

That is why it" CUTS THE MUSTARD"

It is because all the extractor pipes are exactly the same lenght.

Paul has Maxxis "creepy crawlers" last time I saw him, pretty sure that's what in your vid too Richard, Maxxis make the mudzilla as well, sure that you're not having a senior moment
That aside in that thick clay/mud around seddonville the ET"S are the weapon of chioce without a doubt, problem is when ya head to Denniston just down the road that all changes

Going by the vid they are creepys for sure,like Tim said that be ET country for sure.
Not sure I would say Andi walked through ,foot hard up it and slowed on that last bump,I guess if you can drive it thats what counts.

Some of the best tracks over there thats for sure

About 1/3rd of the way thru the vid your LH front wheel stops momentarily. I take it you did not have your front ARB in?
Interesting as I thought it would be of use on that wee tricky section. The one time I have been thru there, (driving rather than winching down it) I wasn't allowed to stay in the passenger seat. Humpf!

Also interesting to see Pauls attempt. Even with 4"s more travel than my springs (standard), the travel looks like mine in this vid, when you compare your truck over that bump with his. He got air and you just rolled over it.

Say Gidday to Paul and Andi from me if they are still with you. Several eons ago I did my apprenticeship training with Paul. Much entertainment was had by all....

HUH!! That's something a lot of people forget, it contributes hugely to performance, not only are they all the same length, I bet from that sound, they are all the correct length and diameter for the displacement of each cylinder??

Yes I noticed that on the video as well.

I did have my lockers in .

The next day I was stuck in a bog for 2 hrs with the left CV broken. Because it was the inside of the CV that was smashed I think it had been partially cracked for a while and while on the hill climb let go a second or two before jambing again and working.
