I have been offerd a pair of harnesses for cheap, but before taking them I thought I would ask about dates etc.
These two are out of date for racing are they still suitable for trialling? Have been in storage (still in wrappers) and have turned up in a clean up but cant be sold for racing, but I wondered if they would suit a slower form of the sport.
Cheers,
Heath

Re: 5 point harness
My belts are out of date racing harness . If those have never been used should be sweet . Is the 5th belt able to be left off if you wanted to go 4 point ?

Not sure. I guess you just leave the groin straps unbuckled an use it like a 4 point.

Go with the 5 point - the crotch strap keeps the waist belt from riding up & thus keeps you securely in place. If you use half decent seats & set the belts up right then the crotch strap wil go no where near your tackle.
If at first you don't succeed .... Get a bigger hammer!!

Re: 5 point harness
Cheers. That makes good sense.

Re: 5 point harness
there are no rules in regard to expiry dates for trialing but they must have a makers tag and in good cond .i run 5 point and they are great .when you do rollover(been there and done that ) they certainly help stop you from smacking your noggin on the roll cage(if adjusted properly)and arn,t to bad on the crown jewels.(i,ve got twins to prove it)

have you actually used a 5 point dude
they go nowhere near the tackle and as the others have said they work sooo much better than a 4 point
just look at guys with a 4 point on and see how far up thier guts the buckle is
when you have the crotch belt as furgus said it stops the lap belts riding up and makes you a million times more secure.
go the 5 point if you value your life

Re: 5 point harness
Am running 5 point that was in the super saloon they expire datewise in 2001. I am happy to use them as I dont feel that I am putting myself in danger with them. 5 point keeps the belts down at a sensible level, stops you submaring down and forward, will also help keep you down in the seat if on your top. Adjsusted and setup correctly 5 strap is nothing to worry about. Want to get really flash and spend money buy a 6 point

yes my mate has them in his zuki, i spent 7hours in them and hated them! it was till we got home i found out how to adjust the bottom one, still i prefer 4 point just my opinion,
5 points are probably more practical for your guys type of driving

Re: 5 point harness
Well missed out on the brand new (old stock) belts as a staff member decided he would fit them to his toy (thats the story I was told), but scored a pair of 3 year old harnesses (5 point) for $80 of Trade me. Were too cheap to let go and will do me for a while.
Just have to get the truck to fit them to now (and the spare parts I have started to collect).
