CALLING ALL ORE MEMBERS THAT HAVE A KEEN INTEREST IN DOC AND WHAT GOES ON


Its that time again. The Minister of Conservation is calling for nominations for membership of Conservation Boards.

The Minister will have regard to the particular features of land administered by the Department of Conservation within a Board’s area and the interests of nature conservation, natural earth and marine sciences, recreation, tourism and the local community including the tangata whenua of the area when making appointments to each board.

Nominations are called for the following numbers of vacancies on each board:

Northland - 5
Auckland - 4
Waikato - 4
Bay of Plenty - 4
East Coast/Hawke’s Bay - 4
Tongariro/Taupo - 4
Taranaki/Whanganui - 4
Wellington - 3
Chatham Islands - 3
Nelson/Marlborough - 3
West Coast Tai Poutini - 3
Canterbury Aoraki - 5
Otago - 4
Southland - 4

Generally, appointments will take effect from 1 September 2008 and will be for a three year term.

Nomination forms are also available from all conservancy offices of the Department of Conservation or from the Department’s Head Office (P.O. Box 10-420, Wellington).
