GQ PROTECTION

Started on the job of making up some tube front, sill, and rear bars. frount and rear fairly striaght forward although any one with some pics of theres would be good and how you guys have mounted your sill bars also. not to keen on welding to chassis as not sure how this will affect wof etc.

i am having some rock sliders made at the moment to protect my sills,should be on the truck by saturday i will post a photo for you and give you the details on who made them for me if you like,and next month having bar work done down the sides of my truck,my front and rear bars are done already

Cheers that would be great ive already got some heavy wall 2inch tube bent up for them just working out mounting.

just drill through the chassis and bolt up. i just did that for my brother on his hilux and took it for a warrent on wednesday and the only thing they got upset with is there was moisture in the headlight and the rear brakes were un even. no mention of the bars.

make sure you have a big fat plate on the back of the bolts to act as a giant washer to help spread the pressure from doing up the bolts or you might (probably not with a gq) start to squash the chassis walls together. best of luck, put some pics up when u do it i need some ideas for my GQ.

It is illegal to weld anything to the chassis.

Bolting to the chassis is Legal

If you have to weld to the chassis, you can pay a certifiyer $400 for a plate that goes on the fire wall saying you have welded bodywork protection bars to the chassis which al of a sudden makes it legal.

GQ's have a mild steel chassis so welding to it is fine but you'll need a LVV cert then. The other option is bolting to the body mount brakets as there is room there.
Nissan Terrano coilovers, turboed VH45, Safari axles, and some other stuff.
