Laurie Sanson - Round 4 - 02 Mar 2008

This round will be hosted by the Whangarei Club and as usual it will also be a round if the club champs. it will be held at Paparoa which is south of Whangarei, on land never used before. I will post further info after the weekend

maybe we could organise a motel etc with a good group rate for thoose of us coming from far afeild
hopefully close too a pub :lol:

Rally will be held on Bull Road Paparoa
Directions to Rally Site heading North

Leave Kaiwaka head north SH1
Turn left at SH12
Turn right at Hurndall St E
Turn left at Hurndall St W
Continue on SH 12
Continue on Paparoa Valley Rd
Turn right at Paparoa Oakleigh Rd
Turn left at Porter Rd
Turn right at Arcadia Rd
Turn left at Bull Rd
Look for 4x4 sign by Manganui river


Directions to Rally Site heading South

Leave Whangarei head south on SH1
Turn right onto MANGAPAI ROAD
Continue straight ahead onto WAIOTIRA ROAD
Turn right onto ARARUA ROAD
Turn left onto BULL ROAD
Look for 4x4 sign by Manganui river

Cost will be $10 per driver this will cover costs for BBQ and toilet
Drivers briefing 8.30 start at 9.00

yep will be at tauranga yep turn off at SH12 heading towards Maungaturoto and Ruawai

shiat, just booked a place in whangarei tonight. Whats the driving time driving from whangarei?? Failing that, whats a good pub and whose keen for a few ales :mrgreen:

Going by Dans directions i might book into Kaitia but will get a map out tomorrow, is there camping on site?

going by wises.co.nz for bulls road, Im guestimating 30-40 mins drive in the morning from whangarei, better than 2 hours from my place

As a local I recon on 45 to an hour from Whangarei central to the site.

Both Paparoa and Maungaturoto have old school hotels / pubs with good grub. I can see the Maungi one from my back yard so I would be keen on a beer or two!!

Oh yeah - Don't book into Kaitia - miles away!!!

Paparoa also has a small camp site with cabins..........

Yep, Maungatoroto Pub Rox big time, good tucker. Used to call in there when I was on the trucks doing the Dargaville run. A saturday night Beer sounds real good.

Anyone coming up with a vehicle we can double drive?? Don't mind splitting the petrol money. I just don't have the spare coin to buy and run my own toy and the wife won't let me compete in her Discovery!!!

Not that I know of. There was a really big trial ride (bikes) up this way a few weeks ago.

Having lots of rain now to make sure we get plenty of mud!!

if i wasnt working satday i would go, and also the thought of driving the cruiser up there kinda makes my wallet scared :shock:
