Anyone gota repower with this type and are familiar with the engine?
My SIII has this engine and has been running fine, went on a trip on
weekend no problems, drove the next day no problems, went to work
today (engine cold) almost stalled at an intersection then engine
started rattling really noisy and surging at idle, bit of black smoke
but not excessive. Shut down, cut fuel and wound over on starter, no
horrible bangs or crunches. Started engine, starts easy, but still
really rattle and surging, black smokes when I bring the revs up and
runs a bit rough.
Didnt go bang, timing chain obviously intact, starts easy doesnt
sound like it is missing on a pot. I am yet to get compression check
done.
Any ideas of problem? I thought maybe injection timing has jumped a
tooth or something.
Can anyone recommend a good reasonablr priced diesel mechanic shop in
Hobsonville/Whenuapai or Henderson/Massey or Wairau Park area.
Any help much appreciated.
