when starting my pajero in mornings the revs seem to be searching then settle down, just as you pull away it almost stalls.
Then when idling sounds like there is a hole in the exhaust also while idling you turn air con the revs seem to increase by a 1000 rpm can also feel when at normal speeds, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe a vacuum hose is off or leaking?

sorry for this late reply, spoke with my local mechanic regarding easist way to try and find a vacum leak, put me on to a auto electrician who puts thru a gas and able to find leak so due to him being busy unable to get in till atleast the 19th.
If any one noes a easier way of finding it any suggest will be taken

Have you had a 'good ol poke around under there? have a look on the inlet manifild and there should be a few air lines going into it.
Have it idling and listen for where the sucking sound is coming from.....
Does it run ok when warm? where does it idle?
SHould be 1200 - 1500 cold and about 750 warm.
Anything other it is most likely the throttle body is full or crap and the idle stepper unit gets faulty. ECU's can also cause erratic idling on that model - they are the ones that have all the repaired ecu's advertisied on trade me for $150.

Hi NJv6 ,
When cold it idles between 1500 and 2000 rpm, warm 750rpm.
I took the throttle body apart a few weeks back and cleaned it out, this was why i was stumped as to what else could be the problem.
being this is as far as i got i'm just gona put into auto electrician to try and fix, my mechanical skills are limited to what i can do.

Hi there,
This isn't the "proper way" (and be warned, i have heard that this can do damage to hoses if used in excess) but i have never failed to find a vacuum leak by using the old deoderant method... while idling, spray (lightly) something flammable - like deoderant (lynk, etc), around all your intake hoses and joints... while idling the system should be running in vacuum (as opposed to positive pressure like a turbo when it's on boost) so as soon as you spray it on the area that is leaking you will notice the revs rise a little...
So when you get to the leaky join or the cracked hose (or whatever it is) the revs will increase a little (like from 750 to 1000-1200ish) and then you know where your leak is;-)
Good luck!
Cheers
