check the length of the studs mate, if they havent stretched then they will be fine, find a new measurement for them and use a good vernier.

head gasket set, i would go to an engine reconditioner or partmaster, i personaly deal with appco here in hamilton , as i get good discount from them and good service to boot, post model number and engine code and ill give them a call tomorrow, see what sort of money they are selling for.... better yet, sell it and buy a cruiser  ..

as for the head, no idea, if you in for a new head... farkenhellgoburnitandclaiminsurance...... :?

Was the VM 2.5 diesel the first diesel in the range rover ? In the clasic and mk 2 before the 6 cyl bmw engine .

Yes the VM was the first Diesel engine'd RR. First in 2.4 then in 2.5 litre then moved to the 200Tdi 2.5 litre Land Rover engine.

hi there . I own (&drive) a 98 Cherokee Turbo Diesel which I purchased as a project with cracked heads( I say Heads coss the VM motor has sectional heads) and leaky power steering (amongst other things....).
After my 89 2.5 diesel Pajero , the Jeep is a wonderful machine. I've done a lifetimes penance getting the sodding Heads off , repaired and back on along with the Gold plated head gasket etc but I now love the thing and haven't yet given up although I still have 1 or 2 little niggles with it. I guess you've long since got rid of yours but Let me know if Ican help.
Cheers..
